Summit X compared to Freeride

Just looked up on a skidoo parts finder. You're right about a 154 race version. Its got its own complete section separate from the normal 154. Rear suspension parts including rails are different part numbers. This was on a 13. How does one get a "race version" and what are the differences from a normal freeride 154? Very interesting.....

My only wish on the freeride is to be able to get a 163 factory under it.

other than that I have recently smacked a couple good trees and my ole 08 xp would have crumbled under the same situation. and I got away with just an upper a arm and a bumper, and belly pan

freeride

yeah idk I was looking at the book and the 137 has a different skid then the 45 and 54 but they had different angle (judging by picts) than the X

so the freeride is the tough beefy version of the xm but the only part on the xm that broke this year (the tmotion) made it onto the freeride unchanged. so now the tough beefy freeride will break ? pls tell me they fixed the braket and "beefed" it up.

also just noticed the rear skid mounting bracket on the new freeride is just the same as the old xp and new xm and nothing like the beefier one that used to come on the freeride. didnt alot of people have trouble with them and upgrade to after market or put the freeride ones on?

Well the 137 is coupled where the 146 and 154 aren't! Big difference in the skids.

As far as the race suspension I'm pretty sure you can order it just like a regular set up. When ordering the sled you can mark the race version if you wanted.. But comes with a wider front end then the standard freerides yet. Think it's equal to the renegade stance and the regular freeride is equal to the previous year summits prior to S-36 (38-40)

freeride

The 146 to 146 or 54 to 54 they are different I believe although I have not seen them in real life

There is only one 146 but there is a difference between the race 154 and std 154. I can't remember exactly but if I recall correctly the race 154 rear suspension was more like the XRS hillclimb set up. There is also a difference when just looking at the Race p/n's for rear shock and rails compared to the std rear shock and rails.

I owned a 12 Freeride last year. I loved it. I like the wider front stance but hated the wider boards. Those boards are wide even for me at almost 6'5''. Sled handles awesome in the deep snow and it is actually fun to ride on whooped out trails. I looked for big bumps and humps by the trail to jump off on the rides into the backcountry. I did switch out the shocks to a full Tom's set up front and rear and that was really impressive. An honest 13lbs off the skid. I put an SLP full pipe set up on it for another 17lbs off. So I was right at the weight of a stock XP. I am thinking about just putting the stock Freeride A-arms on a 163 XM or doing a 163 skid on a 14 Freeride. Need one new sled for next year.

Looking at maybe buying my first skidoo. I have a line one a brand new 13 freeride for 11500 out the door. Is it worth it or should I snow check a 14 X model?

The 12 and 13 Freerides are basically the same machine except for the colors. If I was buying used I would get a 12. Should be able to get one for no more than $9500 with decent miles and a little warranty on it. The 14 is going to have the t motion and flex track, better boards and footwells. Hopefully they will have the front spindle and ski set up. Not sure on that. For a grand or so more you can get a 4 year warranty and free e start on the 14. Like the look of the 14 too.

2013 137, 11,400 out the door.
I had a discussion with the dealer it looks like the 154 Freeride (non race) is the same sled as the XM Summit, geometry-wise. Footwell placement, skid mounting locatiosn, ski locations, etc. Only with killer graphics, nice shocks, and reinforced RS chassis. Only drawbacks would bit stiffer shocks (worse for sidehilling) and a little extra weight, and wider stance. Which may be better to keep the side panels out fo the snow, yet I hav ehad my XM on some steep sidehiulls that scared me enough to where I don't want to go any steeper.) Easy enough to narrow the stance, put Summit arms and probably 1/4" limiter spacers in teh shocks. I am thinking 137 and 154 Freeride for me next year. Just got back from a 30 mile lake/river run to bud's house for beers, that 137 is a KICK to ride.

buy the summit SP and save money put some RSI bars and risers on it Exit or fox shocks up front toms e motion rear suspension wrap it and you got your self a freeride that is unreal in the trees thats what i did this year and i love it if you want to go a little further put a set of rsi dumpers on it or skinz air frames
