Summit 1000?????

There's was a 05 RT1000 with 38-miles for sale in Steamboat, Colorado newspaper (Steamboat Pilot). Price I think was $6800? Do a search for SASAK Trailers and call them, they still may have it.

tough decision.. I made the same one..

Haha. I get a kick out of you guys that still own these piles. When you upgrade to a real sled you'll see the light.

Huh. piles?? My opinion is that is going too far. The 05 had a couple updates, but I have an 07 800 and my buddies rt1000 would flat leave my *** and he out weighs me by 15 pounds and has a 163. Now, if you wanna race down the trail and win, that means something. He rode my 07 800 151, and the next year, he traded the rt off and bought an xp. ( now he really hands me my butt on the hill) But pound for pound, CLIMBING , my 800 will give an rt 1000 a run for the money. Boondocking, i will kill it! I would love to get my mits on an 07 summit 1000 162 though. (If I had endless amounts of money) You can skinny them up so they are the deadlyest weapon. So, I know this doesn't help your decision much, but this topic rings very close to home for me as I could have bought a carry over 06 rt 1000 for almost 2000 dollars less than my 800. Realasticlly, If I were making the buy today, it woud be a new or used xp. I think the xp will hang with any of the 1000 sleds or show them their butt....

Well , im not a very good ryder, began 3 years ago. first 2 years was 1 week per year to the mountain.. this year will be almost every 2 weekend. went to valemount, and sicamous. and i have a rt 1000, and beside putting this PIG to a diet didnt do nothing to the motor. and i didnt see no xp or rev 800 outclimb it. but ya if you mod a 800 motor you will maybe beat a 1000, but put the same money in to the 1000 and then will see. the only thing about that sled is after youre day of ryding youre dead beat hihihihihihi. but i love it

mine rocks, the power is sick, last 2 days of riding were killer, just hte baseless 4 feet of fluff is a pain when you stick it!!

the weight is a pain, but heck, for the price i love the thing!! im in mine 4 grand and she spanks my buddies 8 and 9g sleds. weight is more, but cost was a huge issue for me.

the rt 1000 is definetly a good buy if your looking for value. You can get em cheap now, and if you put a bit of work into em like everybodies been writting, you'll have a deadly sled on your hands.
As for these guys that think their 800's will outmark the 1000's, I question their riding experience more than I question their opinion.

uhh, actually, with the 07 mid alt mapping, guy on dootalk just dynoed his at 182 with nothing more than a can, the original mapping sucked, add some higher comp domes, a can and pod filters, your mid 180 range, EASY!!

Yup im the guy on dootalk that dyno'd mine sled at 182 and 127 torque with just a TSS can, yes I was suprised as well...I have an 05.5 RT converted from a 151 to a 144....I have added pods since and a few other things..not to the motor...not that pods will do anything except help the dust stay out...I have also added a Fuel pressure gauge an 08 thermostat and relocated my low pressure fuel pump to the exhaust side like said above.. (mainly for easy access when it needs to be replaced). Among a few other cosmedic adds...

on the 1000's you can buy any year just make sure the updates are done on the 05 or 05.5....

also every 1000 miles you should have your Eraves cleaned...this is easy to do...on the 05's you have to make sure the little plastic gears in there dont swell..this is also a known problem for the 1000's that make them blow...the raves stick and cause a break down...gears are cheap, I just replaced 2 and it was like $30....

just get the VIN from the sled and check with your dealer about what updates have been done...

I am running the 07 mid map and I have never fouled a plug I am also running Dynamo Joe's clutch kit and the thing rips...and with the 144 track the track speed is crazy...

Im in New Brunswick now so I only trail ride and boondock...these things are fun to boondock, with the longer tracks they are a little harder to move around the trees then some others maybe but the power can get you out of alot of trouble...or well get you in some as well :)

I also came off of a yamaha...although I had an RX1ton...and the RT feels alot lighter. I also have around 50-60 lbs off my sled which helps alot...

oh and CRFfred I am at sealvl...around 0-100ft alt...

good luck on your purchase...

Stiff

PSS...LOL....Deaner is actually the previous owner to my sled :)... Deaner you should try this sled now...I have it dialed in 100% better than it was when I bought it...not that you didnt have it good...but it is that much better now...

I rode with one of my buddies in Crowsnest pass and he rented an 07 800 (rented ones are never what they can be I know) and he rode my 1000 for about 10 mins...after he said if he buys a sled it will never be an 800....

I beg to differ with this...

when out at revy my buddy was riding against some xps to play around...and the xps were either getting stuck or turning out of the climb...where my buddies 1000 was up and over everytime...He has an 05 1000 162 with a few mods, not alot done to the motor just an air intake and a pipe...(and the XP was a 163)

I dont disagree that the XPs are nice sleds...but they seem to have there hands full with alot of problems as well...like any sled I imagine...

Now the day we were out climbing I was no competing cause I had my wifes 600 121 track...I ripped the track off of my sled so was waiting for the new one to arrive at the hotel...

but when it comes down to it, it really depends on rider...if you have the same rider on both sleds the 1000 will win everytime...im not just saying this cause I own a 1000...I have seen it first hand...and also an 800 will never have the rip your arms off power that the 1000 has....
