Summer Vacation Vancouver/Whistler

My wife and I are looking to spend a couple of days this summer in the Vancouver/Whistler area. We are wide open as where we are going to stay. We would like to rent a small house/cabin and use that as home base for a couple of days. Does anyone know of a cheap place to rent or what area would be good to stay at?
