summer project , ready for paint

last summer i built a tube chassi sled and spent the winter setting it up ,
this summer i built another with some of what i learnt from last years
last seasons sled had a extra large fuel tank , held 15 gallons
this years will be back to 10 gallons as we found the sled was very easy on fuel , due to its light weight 380, tough was the main concern when building the weight was a bonus .
has most amenities , heated grips , head lite and a tack
last years had a 01 / 800 doo motor in it and this years has a 06 ptec motor
upgrades to last year in the motor dept raised it 40 more hp so it will have a higher fun factor this year .
due to were i ride , 99 percent in the trees the sled is designed to handle with very little effort . look were you want to go and it goes there .
gettin older so one has to look at how to stay out there with the young folk and not hold anyone up .
has been a lot of fun to build , best summer time time passer so far LOL's

never had a seat on last years as we were playing with the intake locatiion at the back of the sled . half way thru the season last year we moved the intake to just below were i stand and that worked out awsome . can ride totally buried for long extemded periods of time with out bogging .
getting the exhaust exit so it wouldnt bog the motor was another area that took awhile but now it's location makes for no issues in exhaust bogging either now .
took on as many trees as one could and couldnt bend it , is narrow so it fits thru were the factory ones can't .latter in the season we learned that you could not follow were this sled would go , just couldnt and it wasnt a huge hp sled .151 x 16 track
same track on this years build .one key feature to the quick handling is tha t your ankle bone is about center line for the horizontal line between the motor crank center line and the drive axle center line and the top rear idler wheel in the rear of the skid .ski stance is narrower than anything factory .
i am an aggressive trail rider when there is a trail to use so it had to handle there as well . thing i found was that there arent any sleds suspensions that are tuned or valved for this light a sled .took a bit to get that resolved .

first rock i hit early season sent me 15 feet infront of the sled , when i uncoved it i was surprised that i didnt have to straighten something and on the winter went bouncing off this and that
this season i have a head cam to show the ridicilous places i go with it in the trees. it is similiar to haveing a snowboard only with some uphill go LOL's

While riding Frisbee last season I had a chance to see Als' tube chassis. The body work isnt pretty , but the rest of the sled is well thought out and cool as hell!
Good job on some forward thinking Al.

yes it definately wasnt pretty , kinda road warrior but a snow warrior instead look .when you see it coming directly at you or away fom you all you see is a guy with 2 skis and a track , funny as ell .
video this season as i bought a head cam , will have both versions out this early season .
the new one will have a finished look to it but still will maintain that weird look hahahaha

wont be long and we will have some snow to run in .

Your new build looks real sweet, How many hours do you have into it, what did you end up at for weight.

Ill have to swing by this winter and check it out

It's cool and all but why not just strip down an XP. An 09 146 with a can should be 425 and one should be able to go farther, probably to 400 fairly easy.

Nice work Al. If someone has to ask why not start with a stock sled and drop weight..he has obviously never put time into building something to get the satisfaction out of doing it himself.

I really like your "blue" sled lift!! Milk crates have so many uses...
