Stuck in the middle...

Well now that i got some decent employment going, finaly, im close to pulling the trigger on a pro RMK, allthough i might just wait for next year im tempted when i have the option now.
My question is, im pretty aggressive, jump alot and look for cornices to drop, I know This is more of the Assaults level but then again both pro rides have there ups and downs, i want the pro chassie without a doubt, and with the pro assault coming with the 155 i have little option between the to other than i belive there suspension package and track, few other details mind you,
Would it be cheaper to setup a assault with a powder track, or a RMK with suspension that can handle jumps?
would there be any other reason to take the assault over the RMK?
living in tahoe we get a fair share of bottomless powder and good firm stuff, i realy saddly cant sacrifice going the stock assault track.
thanks guys

I would buy a sled this year. I would bet there will only be BNG for the 2012 coming from Polaris.

Dont knock it until you try it. I had an 09 Assault and like you I am more for the jumps and bumps and still do some climbing. I went with the 2011 Assault and it's a huge improvement over the 09. I am 175#'s and so far there is no need to change the track. I ride the Mount Shasta area and the last two outings were in 2-4' of powder. We still don't have a firm base yet, it just keeps on snowing. I have yet to get stuck because of the track. The shorter 09 would have gotten stuck a few times each outing in these conditions. I bought the Assault because of the shocks and figured changing the track would be cheaper if I wanted to go that route. Happy to say there is no reason to change a thing.

i was on the fence when ordering this spring, i was coming off an 09 assault with an RMK track on it. i knew if i ordered the assault i would swap the tracks right away. i've tried the old tracks and i've tried the new ones, i just do deep riding and a lot of jumping and dropping. i thought the assault would match me better, but i also intended on upgrading the shocks to fox evols. i finally went with the Pro RMK model because the shocks were going to be upgraded anyway, i wanted the lightness of the Pro RMK, the track, and i didn't want a wide front end for the deep and the trees. i made the right choice for me, basically the suspension didn't matter cause it wasn't going to stay stock and i didn't have to swap out the track, and my sled is 15lbs lighter. although swapping the track out on the assault would make it quite a bit lighter as well. hope you can make a good choice for you, everyone rides different and likes different set ups at least we all have options now.

If you wanted to change an assalt track to a poo 5.1 series (stock) track, you should be able to find a take off at a reasonable price. Alot of guys swap them for camo extremes or the arctic cat power claw. I feel the stock 5.1 series is working well under this new chassis, and am very happy with it.

I think there is less to swap from the 11' Assault. My 09 D8 was setup with better shocks and track and it was an inbetweener (between the D8 and Assault). The new Assault is much more comfortable in the deep than the 09/10 were. I almost went that route but decided to by the Pro RMK and get better shocks. So many people say they go big. If you really do go big then the Assault will probably be your ride. I don't go that big so aftermarket shocks or revalved stockers will work for me.

i had an 09 assault loved the sled but hated the track so i was also on the fence about goin with the pro or the assault dealer talked me into goin with the pro but looking back at it i think i would have been better off getting the assault because you can get a take off 5.1 for a really good price

Outside of track, shocks and ajustable stuff, is there any major differences in the 2 say the overall strenght of the chassie or anything, if its basicly just shocks and track.
i assume the take off 5.1 maby around 250?
the RMK is cheaper, how much are the shocks to upgrade to assaults level of handling?
