Street bike engine in a motocross frame?

Why not something like a Banshee engine? Or if you wanted it from a bike, a RZ350? I've seen some done into bikes for hillclimbs. Its very realistic to obtain 100+ HP from them and have them be pretty reliable.

To be honest guys we have been down these roads with Snowbikes and big power is needed for all of the kits out there. However, when you run a much more efficient kit its not such a big deal. With that being said extra snort is always nice. A big bore kit on a 450 will outrun a new 800 2 smoker sled. A turbo 450 on a Yeti is rank! Just spend your hard earned dollars on a better kit and you don't have to throw soooooo much money on HP! We ran our turbo'd ktm 500's up against stock 450 Yeti's and in some conditions the turbo bikes couldn't keep up!

I'd love to look more heavily into the Yeti setup, but there just isnt enough info out here right now. Like cost, I've seen some threads with a price, but unsure if it is correct. And can I even order one right now?

Yeti Snow MX is the innovative product resulting from the collaboration of hard core riders and skilled Canadian fabricators. For the past two years, the C3 team has been busy pushing the riding experience to higher limits. With the growing demand for better, faster and higher performance from snow enthusiasts worldwide, C3 Powersports combined its knowledge and effort into the development of the game changer for the snow MX market. By substantially reducing the weight of our conversion kit components, our team was able to increase the performance and the efficiency of the bike's drive system. This allows the YETI to maximize the horsepower delivered to this newly designed belt drive system, into the track, and finally to the snow. By utilizing state of the art technologies, avant-garde aerospace material and thorough exhaustive testing, C3 Powersports has dramatically improved the Yeti’s reliability, pushing the rider to confidently venture better, faster, higher.

Definitely some interesting ideas. The Banshee or RZ350 would be 2 that make huge sense. Big power, light weight and small packages. I'm curious the weight difference of some of these engines. R1 vs Aprilia 550 vs cr500 vs banshee vs RZ350..... The R1, I move it around by hand and installed it by hand In my Raptor chassis but it's not light! I can't wait to see how this sport evolves!

I do not have the numbers at my fingertips for the Aprilia 550 (4 stroke v twin) or the CR500 (2 stroke 1 slug smoker) both purpose built dirt bike motors. However, they do not hold a candle to a litre bike motor like 2007-08 R1 motor;

998cc 16 valves DOHV inline 4 cyl.

186.4hp @ crank (with ram air) = 156.7hp @ rear wheel, stock configuration,
@ 12,000RPM
75.5ft.lb. Torque @ 8,150RPM

177.6hp @ crank (without ram air) = 152.9hp @ rear wheel. stock configuration, @ 10,160RPM
73.6ft.lb. Torque @ 8,150RPM

2007 YZF R1 stock propelled a professional rider 0-60mph in 2.94 seconds.
(Bike weighed about 390lb dry)

Power adders, pipes, fuel type, nitrous, other mods, will obviously change these stock numbers. Swing arm/wheel/tire is different than track/kit (reciprocating mass) on a snow bike riding on frozen ocean.

As for weight (about 150lb), yes it is heavier than a typical dirt/snow bike motor however the power to weight ratio is more than made up for, on a liter bike motor. The challenge is stuffing it into a custom frame, with the proper geometry, getting the balance point, center of gravity, etc., correct (which has been done more than once) now add the kit on a long track, trust me you will need it. Picking this up in a snow bike configuration off the ground is a PIG, let alone in 4' of POW. But, while it's upright its all sheeets and giggles, this monster will rip your arms off. I think you get the picture.

The Banshee and RZ350 use the same engine pretty much. RZ has powervalves and the shee does not, along with some other small things like different gearing.

So theyre close in weight. The Shee engine is around 80lbs with carbs for what its worth.

Prove it.

Don't get me wrong I want to believe it.
But nobody puts any video up of any sort of snowbike conversion "outrunning " any 2stroke 800. I'm talking 3-4 feet of fluff comparison. Not hero snow.
