Strawberry snow

We rode Strawberry south down the ridge on Tuesday and decided to hit it again today. Pulled in to the parking lot at the visitors center and it was full of snow and barely got back out. Pulled over to the Co-Op Creek lot and it was freshly plowed.

There was at least 3' of new snow in the valley since Tuesday.

We made the loop from Co-Op up to Tower, down Strawberry river. Didn't see another track until we dropped in to the valley at Strawberry river.

Great snow up there, deep. Short tracks (151s) had a rough day even on the flats.

The Phillips up at the Marina said they haven't seen this much snow in 30 years!

Launched from the marina today myself, didn't get far before my sons throttle cable broke but it was stupid deep when you got off the main rode and nothing was groomed or packed.

Rode from Timberlakes and between powder shots played rescue crew to several people who have no business being out in powder like that. Snow was great but colder than heck. Below zero all day.

Snow was Awesome up Mill hallow. it was so deep and fluffy it was an awesome day. We also rescued 2 couples that got their sleds stuck in the deep snow the night before and had to sleep out side thursday night. It was quite an ordeal but we got all there stuff and sleds into the cabin there we staying at last night.

we were one of the first two trucks to the parking lot on Friday morning (Nobletts) and there were two vehicles in the lot that had spent the night there. Wonder if it was those folks vehicles. It was WICKED cold if they stayed out in it all night Thursday night they are lucky if they were in good shape.

...and yea -stupid epic deep and some of the lightest fluff i have ridden in a long time! SO good we were out of fuel by early after noon and literally beat from riding! I was worthless for New Years Eve party stuff.... :face-icon-small-hap

We took zero pics - too incredible of a day to want to take the time, we just kept riding! Got frostbite anyone? I have couple of cheek spots from the ride back to the truck - man it was a cold day!

Yes one of those vehicles was theirs. They said there was another couple that was supposed to be back Thursday night when they were headed up but they had not been back down yet. I don't know what happened to them. These two couple are luck to have survived that night. They built a little cave under a bent over snow cover tree and huddled together. I can't even imagine how long that night was. I did hear from them and they have made it back home safe.

Twas an Epic day today for sure...Strawberry has never had that much snow as long as I've been riding there....fluffiest powder and best base ever!!!! Dang cold too!

Was out at strawberry yesterday as well ....

That'd be awsome if it got that much snow every year ... holy cow that was a good day.

crazy deep!

A buddy and i took our wifes on friday. On our way over Daniels summit a d6 or d9, looked like a d9 dozer was burried on the side of the road, a loader was trying to pull it out, holy crap i thought, been a long time since there has been this much snow. We got to the first parking lot, not plowed, massive drifts, second parking lot a dually f450 was making his best attempt to clear it off. we waited and unloaded. It took us an hour just to get to the groomed trail, wifes got ate up by all the powder! Went to the lodge and got some lunch and warmed up. My wife had 2 nice welts(frostbite) just to the side of her eyes were the goggles and mask didnt cover, she said i just thought it was really cold and the stuff i had on was doing all it could. lots of stuck sleds along the trail. We helped a guy on a new pro get out. All you could see was his ski tips and front bumper as we came up on him. Went back up saturday and conditions were perfect i thought.

Yea, we made the mistake of going up the Daniels Summit Loop last weekend. What was supposed to be a quick loop turned into a day of undigging strangers. Rescued 7 sleds from 4 different groups. All rentals. They never should have been allowed up there. Between that and undigging ourselves we were pooped.
