strange noise on my 2010 M8

My 05 M7 makes a really weird harmonic type sound coming from the exhaust at around the same RPMs. Never known what it is, apparently it`s always done it, has 4500 KMs on it and have had no problems. Has a full D&D Exhaust kit. I know they`re different sleds, just thought I would give my story.

Still making noise as of yesterdays ride...
Here's what I've done so far,
Tonight, I just removed the OEM suitcase and installed an SLP aftermarket can. It fits in very nicely and seems really secure. Sounds great in the shop too. No louder than stock at all. I hope that fixes it. If not, I'm running out of options.

Here's what I've done so far,
- replaced and siliconed the exhaust springs
- tightened and siliconed the clam shell springs
- checked for rubs around engine and exhaust
- inspected the clutches and springs for damage or cracks
- went through the diamond drive and and replaced the bearing
- checked spring tension of all springs
- swapped the original oem can with another new oem can
- removed the muffpot and clamp
- secured the heat shield around the coolant bottle
- changed drive belts
- sprayed wd 40 on the rubber dougnut on the backside of the diamond drive

Success!!! The noise appears to be gone. I tried everything I could think of today to get it to make the noise and it never did.
I put in the SLP can and I believe it is as quiet if not quieter than the OEM suitcase. I know it's hard to believe but it sounds really good. I hate loud cans and was really leery to even put this one in. I rode about 40 miles of roads and meadows today. I cruised with the kids, pounded through the meadow powder and did a couple trail races. The SLP can sounds great! Much quieter than my wifes stock M7. I took some video on the new Go Pro and will try and get it posted when I get it figured out.

Maybe a baffle broke loose and was rattling around? Either way glad you figured it out.
