Stolen Enclosed Haulmark Trailer

Got it Back!

Got a call yesterday, someone saw the trailer off road in Park County. I went over, met the Sheriff Department's Sargent (who had a gun) and retrieved it.

Trailer was abandoned off Park County Rd 14, (Valley of the Sun, right before Fairplay heading south from Breck), left on Busch Run, 1st right on Kens Rd. It's a little dirt road that only services 2 houses, the sheriff told me it's a common dumping ground.

The POS theives cut the locks, cut off and removed the trailer jack, the safety chains and then stole a small toolbox with some wrenches and sockets and the spare tire. HUH?
They ignored the cabinets, applainces and granite countertops my friend had in there.

Then they backed the trailer off an embankment into some trees. Unfortunately that broke all the countertops. Threw a gouge and a few small dents in the trailer.

Thanks of lot to those worthless POS theives, I have my trailer back minus a few hundred in parts, some damage and a two hundred dollar tow bill. They got $100 worth of stuff.

Man, the ignorance of some folks never ceases to amaze me.
You gotta be smarter than that to get the Turbo azzholes!

Never thought it would have happened in our area, a lesson to you all. Lock your stuff up, I did and they still stole it.
I'm going with a heavy gauge chain between the tires when I'm not using it for now on. (Make it so it doesn't roll without them putting in some effort on the spot.) :ballchain:

Shooting them is still not out of the question. Now that we know where it was, I am willing to put some money that the theives are in a mile radius of that road.
If anyone from that area saw that trailer parked in someone's driveway for a day or so, let me know or the Park County Sheriff. I'd really like to take the AR out for some practice! (Man, I really need that smiley with the big machine gun, is that one on Dootalk or TY?)

Well, thanks a lot to all the SnoWesters out there who were looking out,
Rich

Glad you got it back, sorry to hear some of your stuff was damaged.Too bad it's not as safe as we'd like to believe it is up here.

I'd put a boot on it, like the tow companies do. Chains are easier to cut than a wheel boot.

I've also thought about putting the tow chains on a chain quick link like this one, so I could remove my chains when the trailer is parked.

I also have the chastity belt type lock on the ball like this one:

And the standard reciever/hitch lock combo like this:

and the doors are locked with these:

Like you said, nothing will stop a determined thief, but the longer it takes for them to steal it, the less likely they'll take it. They're looking for a quick smash and grab type of opportunity.

X2, lets hope they find who did it. I think when someone steals things, they just cut their arms off. Be kinda hard to steal anything then.
