Stock secondary spring

Can someone please help me out? It appears that the stock secondary spring for a 05 900 is Red/Black (140/240) If so can I just replace my helix with 66/44/.46 and not worry about the spring?

Thanks

Yes... Red black... 66/44

Almond primary.. Weight to suit altitude (10-70 for 5-8000 feet, 10-68 for 8000+, 10-72 for 2-5000)

Just as important as the helix weight and springs ...maybe more important.... make sure that the side clearance on the belt is set (you crank life may depend on it) and the belt deflection.

You can set the belt deflection yourself (read your owners manual also avail online on The www.polaris industries website for owners manual downloads)

You have to have a shop with the right tools set the side clearance with shims.

Also note... the primary on a 900 was set up to run the 080 belt... the ONLY belt you should be running on a 900 is the 3211115 belt.... IMO (strongly).

The 115 belt is different width than the 080 and thus ALL 900 RMK clutches need to be re-shimmed for proper belt clearance.

All the good clutching in the world will go right out the window if you dont have these basics tended to.

I would rec replacing your red/black spring as mine was sacked out when I took mine apart. Also, install 2 0r 3 delrin washers (some like 2, I like 3) when replacing the spring. Helps with coil binding, should've been installed at the factory.

Engine makes less power as you increase in elevation. So less weight the higher you ride.
