Stock Nytro??

My nytro is sitting in my garage with .2 miles on it and I have to go to Hawaii with my wife for a gd week:mad: when I could be on my sled (I am a very sick person)

not bashing there noob, but the ones i ride with cant come close to a xp on its worst day! turbo'ed! very fun sled, hey! maybe your just a better rider than the ones ive seen, because after riding both, there was no comparison! and like i said im not bashing, just comparing it to my friends.

You are an idiot! IMO

I'm going to go to a dealer & not ebay for a sled I want the warranty & dealer support. I have owned a Doo and would not own another. Pud, your statement reflects your stupidity, you can't sell a broken XP. That's why there arent alot for sale but a ton being parted out. Every mfg has their problems, but I'm getting tired of wrenching 1/2 the season & most the summer. I think the Tamer suspension will be in the future but will have to remain stock for the 1st year anyway

So your saying that the suspension is lacking? How does your friend feel about the power & handling?

power and handling are superb. Shocks and overall weight are the liabilities.

New shocks and skid can be pricy. The stock rear drop brackets alone weigh 11 lbs.

The Nytro is a very good sled and has the potential to be the best sled you have ever ridden. Like most things, it takes $$$$$

This was yesterday on my Nytro (stock!!!!!!!!). Well..........................It was when I bought it.

I'M a bout your same size and a love mine. I have about 1100 mile so far this season. The only two thing that you should do from the start is clutch kit (Hartman) and bigger tank if you need more than 68 miles. I ride with two 04 800 pol 151 ans 159 both with slp pipes. the 159 on deep days and really long pulls can out do me depending on the line. I truly think it will run with the New 700 dragons. We have one 700 dragon in the group and it a good sled. I just like to turn a key and ride and know it will last for several years with out working on it. The motor has plenty power. I carves like a dream through the trees. The only other thing is to swap out the track for a camo extrem the maveric is too soft but i have herd that the later version comming from yamaha are harder so maybe that is quitly being fixed.

I like my mtx so well it look like my dad will be buying xtx as he does not do big climbing. like to put more trail mile than off trail.

so im an idiot because the 4 nytros that ride with me cant come close to my xp. sorry if it hurts your feelings, but i was stating a fact, an not just bashing them. hell i was on the edge when i bought the xp, just about bought a nytro!!!! stk for stk, nytro couldnt beat the 600 dragon that rode with us. so think what ever makes you happy.

hey bro,

Here is the real skinny. I have had my 08 Nytro for 1 month and have put on 400 miles. I have 2 RT 1000's, or had. I know just have one twin turbo RT 1000. I ride with guys with everything from M1000 fully decked out to buddies on pretty musch stock RMK 700s.

By far the Nytro is the mosy fun sled I have ever been on and I have rode them all. I can side hill for a mile on STEEP inclines. The bottom end is very impressive. Nothing I have been on has the power out of the hole like a stock Nytro. I am comparing stock to stock here. The XP would be the closest. The handling is phenomenal, you feel like you are part of the sled. It feels a little unstable until you get used to it. You can move the ski stance out an inch or so on each side but you may lose a little sidehilling ability. The running board on the Nytro is about 2 inches wider than most sleds so you would think it would drag in the snow while sidehiling, it has no effect, not in the powder anyways. The handlebar position stinks stock unless you are 5'6". The turning is great. The seat position is awesome and you get just as much rider forwrd position as the XP.

That was the good, heres is what I have changed or am about to change.

1. Lose the crappy Maverick and go Challenger Extreme. The Maverick simply folds over and gives you no traction.
2. Get an adjustable riser. I went with the Powermadd riser adapter and 5 inch FLY risers. No cable extensions needed and nothing gets pulled.
3. I put on Snow Eliminators after the 3rd ride and it made a huge difference in foot traction and snow dumping.
4. The rear suspension just plain sucks. I am putting on the Timberlsed rear. My buddies all run it on their other sleds and they swear by them. From what I have seen it works very well.
5. No storage room. You cannot mount anything on the back UNLESS you get an exhaust re-route pipe. You can find them on the net now or build your own.

On the performance side, the sled will not pull as hard and far as an XP with the same rider. What it lacks for in the power it makes up in manouverability. I have to poach tracks to climb with my buddies on the real steep stuff. Did I mention I weigh 340 at 6'2", an no I am not fat. LOL. 3 of use boughtthem at the same time and my one buddy weighs about 230 and he goes pretty much where he wnats to. He is a very good rider though, he riders with 509 films all the time.

I would guess that for about $2500 you could make a lot of power and handling adjustments that would take you places you may not want to be. The sled is super reliable and super fun. Like I said I have a twin turbo RT 1000 pushing 300 horses and I would rather ride the Nytro for the pure fun factor.

Go ahead and pull the trigger on the Nytro, you will be very happey and right now you can find them brand new for around $7500 to $8000.

I attached a pic so you can see it pulls ok.

Wow Thanks for all your opinions. Looks like I'm going to go forward with the Nytro & as soon as I can I'll dump some cash into the suspension. Thats what I really want, turn key & go, have fun!

if i was to get a stock nytro for the mountains id get an xtx put a diffrent track on it and skis and rip it up ! its a much better sled then the mtx stock and cost the same . the track on the mtx has to go any ways
if you go this route youve got rid of 3 things motley said you needed . the tunnel has the snow eleimnators built in , the steering post is a pivot type already and the track should be easeyer to sell than the mav on the mtx . the front shocks are gytr with rezzies and it comes with hand gaurds standard . if i was to build a sled for next year id start with the xtx for sure

Thats what I'm doing. XTX for the improved tunnel, front suspension, and shocks. For skis you can buy just the mountian ski bottoms from Yamaha and transfer the loops and hardware.
Track will still be a 144" or 146" but 16" wide. Stock rip saw track should be fairly easy to sell to someone back east, where it's better suited for they're snow conditions. Add a bar riser, mountian bar, and lefty and I figure I'm good to go!
