Stock boost/air box rubber boot

Does anyone that runs the stock boost/air box have a better rubber boot set-up than the stock one? Mine has holes in it from being pinched and I'm afraid it will allow snow/debris in there. It is the rubber boot that slides over where the box sits on the intake manifold. Thought about using the same type of rubber sleeves they use with turbo systems on trucks. Any ideas would be appreciated.:typing:

this website has silicone reducer couplings tha I think might work well. I had some for another project the are nice quality and pretty fairly priced . lots of goodies on that site

I do believe you can order new factory boots and glue them on as well

Thanks I'll check the site out. The problem with the factory ones is they are thin and stretch out easily. Kind of a pain to get around the backside of the box also. Thanks again!

Turbo silicone hose is the best you can get... that is what I would use... If not.. Polaris sell just the boots.

are you talking about the boots from the boost box to the throttle bodies or the boost box to the intake?

if you mean to the intake, cover the entire boot with heat tape (all the way around) it will help seal it from leaks, stop debris, and prevent heat from deteriorating it

yes turbo boots like MH and Polzin said are best..they look just like the FNI offset boots

Boost box to black plastic intake before the TB's. I talked to a rubber supply conpany here in town and the only thing they could come up with was too stiff. A mechanic friend suggested I talk to the local Kenworth dealer about turbo boot. They will be able to help. My dealer doesn't stock them so he wants to charge me $20 extra for a special order on a $9 part and I don't like the stock ones. What does FNI use? That may be an option also.:face-icon-small-hap

Wow, if my dealer tried that I would be finding a different dealer. Try babbitsonline.com for a cheaper price but you may have to wait on shipping, they are slow usually.

I have been using guido's idea with good result but I did start with a new boot my last season(which was how long ago again). Aside from figuring out a new method and posting it up here, there is no definite answer for this application.

If you go with a silicone turbo adapter, your going to have to find the thinnest one you can . I tried a pretty standard auto boost adapter last year and it was too thick, and too stiff.
Whats I ended up doing was building up a more pronounced lip around the top edge of the boost box with epoxy, this made a more positive seal when you install the box onto it.
Then I pulled a Guidoexpress and heat taped the crap out of it! (sorry Sean lol)

The FNI box re-uses the stock adapter boot.

I believe he is asking about the boost box to suitcase intake rubber piece. There is no aftermarket solution thus far, like guido said, something thin enough to be able to conform is going to be your best option.

You mean this one? # 18?
$10 from Babbits, buy 2. :D

Yes it's #18. I tried to add it to my last order but they (Babbits) said it was too late. Sooo, now I would have to pay another $21.70 (to Alaska) just for shipping and I just hate paying that much for a $10 part. Thus the reason why I ask if anyone had another solution. I'm going to talk with the mechanics at the Kenworth place and see if they might be able to help me out and if not I'll suck it up and pay the price. Thank's I'll keep you posted.

If I was in your position if there is any possible way to get a seal I would reuse my old, torn gasket with the addition of heat tape to maximize sealing and then wait until you can get another order in.

Its a pretty crappy deal, not being able to add it to your previous order in a situation like being in Alaska. I'm planning a trip to drive up there but thats at least a year off, I coulda delivered it to ya!

Yeah it was, I just over-looked it on my list of crap to get. Then when I called they said my order was already to shipping but then it didn't ship for 3 more days and it was during the week. I usually have good luck with them but not this year. Oh well RMK2112 gave me somewhere else to try and I think I'd like to come up with something more durable anyway so I'm going to check with a couple of deisel outfits up here. When you come up let me know and we'll have a beer! Just get your a** back from the desert in one piece!!!:plane::beer;

MTN BIKE INNER TUBE

So, I guess I'm not the only one still running the old bazooka gun case:face-icon-small-sho! Here's what I'm gonna try:pop2:. Leave the old gasket on. Wrap the old gasket with a 16'' piece of mtn bike inner tube cut into an oversized butterfly bandage shape. Tie a knot on the top and bottom at the front side of boost box/gun case with the the butterflies "wings". Even with a new gasket, it's still difficult the gasket sealed on the back side. An extra wrap with the inner tube will help ensure that belt dust is sealed out. It's the damn belt dust thats the real bummer with this contraption.
