Stock Apex vs...

Can an Apex mtx be made up to compete with an 07-08 Skidoo 800?? Fairly inexpensively or is it a lot of money to do? Not turbo or supercharger way to much money. Thanks for any help.

u got 2 options forced induction, or a whole bunch of litewieght parts. I went the liteweight route, shaved 100lbs, good track. it costed a tad less than a turbo and some riding buddies ride stock m8's and xp's, after liteweight parts, track, trial and error clutching i'm even with them.

its alot of dough, turbo is the way to go if wanting to keep up or beat your buddies

You need A new track period 15 wide challenger extreme works well for me.

A light skid is nice, take of cat skid or Mt tamer I have a zx2 that works good.

(I Got one for sale as well) The shallower approach angle is the deal

Bark-buster front end. Light weight seat is nice. Timbersled drop brackets

I found the free flowing bike pipes to make a bit more power at altitude not so much down low.

I use a Mt mod hood without lights and have a lead dog helmet light in my back pack.

Kick some weight out of the primary to just stay of the rev limiter on the hard stuff that will put you in the middle of the powerband in the deep stuff.

If you have a sled like that set up properly and the 2 strokes beat you they :face-icon-small-haphave better riders on them.

If you look around the internet and use some used parts you can get away without braking the bank.

Start with the track and cluching and drop brackets. light pipe ( have one of those for sale ) and take of the none esentials.

A grand and a bit will get you started and if you scrounge arround two and a bit get you close to 100 pounds down.

That said you can spend way more if you go retail new with stuff.

I don't know if this will be a duplicate post or not...computer does what it is told not neccessarily what i want it to do....anyway, I am really interested in going the lite weight route with my apex....where can the parts be found or is timbersled the way to go for most of the stuff? I am trying to decide whether to get this sled the way I want it or go buy another lighter sled and skip all the hassle. There are so many things that are sweet about this sled though

I took about 46lbs out of my Apex. I also added a Challenger extreme and Simmons Gen2 skiis. I have no problem keeping up with the 800's and outdoing some as well. Once you setup that sled properly it is very impressive and changes some opinions of guys that think lightweight is the end all be all. Most 800's I have ridden feel like they have noticeably less power than the Apex. About the only time you might get out done is on a long pull in bottomless fluff. That is where gravity and the extra weight works against you. Good luck and dont give up on it they are awesome sleds!
