Stiff steering

Hey guys 03 edge 151.
Ever since iv had this sled it seems like its realy stiff steering, Now the other day I broke my handle bars up the mt. Ended up taking the engine out of the Mt and pulling the steering shaft out.

Now I went back up the mt the next day and notices the lil pivot joint on the bottom of the shaft was really stiff.

Now are all the edge steering realy stiff or should i be replacing all of them in the steering?

Are you saying it steers stiff when riding it or just turning the bars with with skis off the ground? While riding steering can feel stiff because of the type of skis you run and how much spring pressure you have. Otherwise the steering shouldn't feel stiff at all. There is a bottom grease zert on the post and a top grease zert just under the bar clamp, make sure you get that one. I would also look to make sure it isn't binding anywhere and replace the ball joints if needed. my2cents.

yea its fine when its sittin in the shop. just seems really stoipp when im tryin to turn around.
This had been my first and only sled. havnt realy road anyone elses sled.

I grease it often, ill check make sure its not binding on anything.

thanks.

If you have some aggressive ski's and carbide you may have to get some pressure off the ski's. start by bumping up the preload on the front track shock and if that isn't enough let the limiter strap out to the bottom mounting hole and you can adjust the preload where it steers easy and doesn't "push" too much. You won't believe what a few minor adjustments in the rear can do.

skis are stock. carbides are probly orgional too. I have the strap set in the middle hole. i think the steering is normal. i just havnt riden anything else to compare it to.

Yep. Let your limiters straps all the way out. High speed trails you won't like that, but everywhere else you will. stiffen up the front spring in the rear suspension some and soften the ski shocks. You can make it turn as easy or as hard as you like with these adjustments. Start with the limiter strap.
