I did a little more research on the news article and it looks like it is a bill designed to limit the ability of the greenies to sue and stop Idaho's Wolf Management Plan.
It has the following rational:
Once a pack of wolves has gotten themselves in trouble by depredating on livestock or by being in a location where the big game populations are crashing due to the overpopulation of wolves, Idaho will ask all 49 other states if they want any of these problem/excess wolves. Since no state government in their right mind would ever want to have any wolves introduced into their state, they will all decline. Idaho will end up killing the wolves like they would have anyway.
However, it takes one of the greenies most appealing argument away from them. They can no longer say that the state is no longer out just to kill all of the wolves. In addition, Idaho can say back to the out-of-state environemntal groups that bring these lawsuits, "Hey, we tried to give them away, but YOU did not want them. Put up or shut up!"
Looks like some pretty nifty manuvering to me by the Idaho State Legislature. Hope it works.
Seems the only way to beat the greenies is to stay 1 step ahead! Keeping my fingers crossed
I just heard the other day that central park is being considered as wilderness under some new bill in congress and wolf introduction is to fallow soon after.....SWEET, I bet we would even foot the bill for shipping them there
