I have never tried to replace one with the motor still in the chassis. I think it would be kind of hard becasue the steering linkage runs under the motor. You can try pulling your air box and carbs and see if there is enough room but I don't think there will be. If you have to just pull your exhaust,(a few springs) take off the belt, undo the 2 nuts on the front motor mounts, undo the 5 bolts (2 mount sidways) in the back that hold the brass colored engine mounts (not the engine straps) and you can lift the motor up off the front motor mounts and slide or tilt the engine forward as necessary to get to the post and steering linkage. I think you could even leave all the coolant, hoses,and wires attached. There are a bunch of steering posts on Ebay right now.
