858 airbox replacement

I had a branch puncture my air box. Does anyone have a quick guide to replacement? They didn't make it easy to get to and I'm stumped as to how to get the new box in. The old one came out in pieces. I removed the steering post to get some more room but now I'm stumped.

Watched a youtube video of a guy rebuilding a totaled sled, he had to split the airbox along the seam to get it out. Think he reused the one he took out. Looked like a PITA.

That's what I did to get the broken one out but I still ended up breaking it more.

I had to take out throttle bodies and boot from air box to throttle bodies and dismantle most of the front end . It will come out and go in but it’s a pain in the butt. I didn’t disassemble the air box.

I'll have to try taking out the throttle bodies. I'm not super motivated to get it done.

I just did one on the 600, not a lot of room. Somewhat easier to get the old one out (Which was cracked) vs. the new one in. Removed the steering post, the rubber boot between the throttle bodies and the air intake, and then ended up removing the side panels (Upper and Lower) to give just enough room to work with getting everything back in (And it was still tight). Might be different on the 858 though. Good luck with it, just take your time and keep everything organized! Country Cat does have an online service manual I was referencing for the 600 which helped on some things.

I am going the route of removing the lefthand panel which should give me just enough room. What a process just for the air box.

I watched the ibexx turbo video. The just removed it but it helped. I pulled y pipe and throttle body's. Good luck

I decided that installing the airbox was not worth the hassle and bought a turbo instead. It seems like that install will be much easier. :headbang:
