Steering Bushings

Has anyone had any luck with some different steering bushings? I hate how rattly and loose everything gets on my sled with the vertical steering. I would love to tighten it up a little or at least make the stock bushings stay in place for more than a week at a time.

Thanks,

S2H

The only thing I have heard of people doing is with the stock one. Some have shaved a small amount of material where the bushing halves come together and clamping them back down. The trick is to shave enough, but not too much apparently.

There was a guy who made a replacement for the 800s that removed the slop. I had sent him a PM last visit year about an option for the 4 strokes and he replied he was going to work on it eventually. I haven't heard anything since unfortunately...

OK, I'm a dumazz... I browse "all cat", didn't notice this was for an 1100.

Sorry for the misinformation guys!

I have been going to Kurt ( Wild Child) for years on other stuff.. He was supposed to be looking into this since last season- and I gave him another nudge around the 4th..
I spoke to Woody last week on this and he is fishing around to see if there is anyone that is approaching this much needed item..

If I hear of anything--I will keep all advised....:typing:

If guys are interested I would make something and sell it. Two piece made from bronze. The problem would be that the upper steering support would need to be milled as well to keep the bushing captive because of it's two piece nature that is needed. It my sled was not in storage I would gladly start working on this.

How much interest is there?

I would buy it if less than $150 including the milling...

I will try to get my sled back this weekend and give it a try and see what I come up with. I was thinking it may be more like $80 with the bushing and sending your triangle mount to me for machining. I need to figure it out on mine first though.

Kurt ( Wild Child) emailed me said he had the bottom figured out and been working on the top one that is a bugger..

I have the solution figured out already. Just believe it or not it is easier to make one for myself than 20 for other people. If it was a sure thing that I could sell 80 of them it would be one thing. Just trying to gauge interest in them.

Well I ride with 5 of these beast- so if it would work and mine fit well ... there would be additional sales.. but it does depend on what you are looking for your cost and what you need to make a profit....

I don't know if I am going to be able to get my sled this weekend. I honestly don't have room for it at home right now and if I get it out of storage then I need to park my trailer in my backyard again as well. Bottom line is I just don't care to do that.

I may just buy another Vertical steering kit from country cat to work off of unless someone wants to send me the steering post and upper steering supports and I will use that and send it back with the first kit free of charge.

Ok I ordered some bushings to work with today. I should have a solution in a few weeks.

What would guys be willing to pay for The top post bushing kit? I think to get the most out of it a new bottom bushing(plastic right now) block would be needed as well. Likely an aluminum block with bronze bushing.

I been working on these , sent out few kits for guys to try.

Just waiting for feed back.

Theres lower bushing block and top bushings , they both need to be replaced. If you dont you cant get rid of the slop in the steering.

Not sure what the benifits off useing a oilite bushing? the steering system doesnt really make enough heat or pressure to release the oil in the bushing to make it self lubricating.

how much for that kit ^^^????

A bushing upgrade is really needed on the 1100. It is so heavy I know the steering gets a lot more pressure put on it than an 800. If you build a good solution it should sell really well. This is one of those things that should be fixed at the factory though.
