Steamboat Lodging

I'm trying to plan a trip with some friends and all of our wives. The plan is to ski a couple days in Steamboat and sled a couple days around the area (Rabbit Ears or Hahn's Peak. What are some recommendations of lodging right in or near town? I'd prefer a house or cabin that my whole group (8 adults) could stay together. The wives like nice stuff, but I'm trying to keep it affordable.

Anyone have suggestions or leads to a private cabins to rent out? Or a lodge type place?

I do not know of anything specific myself, but I have used the VRBO website to book cabins/ condos in the past with great success. Pricing will largely depend on proximity to ski slopes. Might be a place to start anyways. Have fun!!

The biggest tip I have is look for places that are not ski in/out. We usually stay outside of town and further from the ski resort in larger houses / cabins. You pay for proximity to the lifts and bars.

Stayed at the lodge at steamboat last spring with the family and it was great. Short shuttle ride to the slopes and they let us park a 4 place sled trailer right behind the lodge which was pretty unusual for the ski village. Really nice/fancy inside. I believe the reservation was made through retreatia.com. Definitely something I would recommend, only issue is if they have the right room configurations for your 8 person group.

We have stayed at the Royal Flush House right on the mountain in steamboat. Huge house and trailer parking.
