Stay ON your ATV in the desert.

Jumping Cholla , also known as Teddy Bear Cholla. Problem with this thing is that it has almost invisable hooks on the end of it, So you get close and hooks you. Seems like it jumps out. And the hooks set. No catch and release here. What did John Wayne say about the desert?

oh in a few months they'll all look back at the moment and laugh.
I'm sorry but it does look kind of funny to me. providing he didn't take any in the eyes.

Being a dirtbiker... I kinda got a chuckle out of this post...

You would be hard pressed to find a seasoned dirtbiker getting into that situation... but then again there is a difference in those that ride dirtbikes and those that ride ATVs...
one has common sense the other is just an accident waiting to happen... but I digress

:D

BTW some times even with the right riding gear those catus still can get a hold of you and yes it hurts... Duct tape, best way to get the majority of the needles out...

took a few of the bud things in my hand a few years back hiking into a fire. some of the needles went right through my fingers. had to use the letherman pliers to pull them out. had little bumps on my fingers for about 3 or 4 years after. fun stuff.

i lived east of phoenix many years ago, was an instructor pilot for the air force.....one new years eve, one of my students was at a party in town and was returning in the wee hours, going too fast in his new camero...missed a stop sign at a "t" street at the edge of the desert...rolled his car and through him out...he landed upside down on the side of a saguaro cactus...impaled him there....someone found him just as the sun was coming up the next morning.....doc said if it had been colder, he would have died from exposure; and if warmer would have bled to death...he was in hospital for nearly six months from his injuries...they couldn't remove the cactus spines for a couple of weeks because his condition was so fragile..:o:o
