Starting small local goggle company ( DareDevil )

Ill have to look into the quick strap setup, I've never ran them or set them up so Im not sure what they require in order to be compatible with a set of goggles.

there is a couple companies doing it, but the ROKO seem to be the pretty popular one.. half my goggles work with them the other half I just use for snowboard goggles.. after going to the quick strap setup, you'll never go back.. its so much easier to deal with here in the NW. and a LOT.. I mean A LOT of riders use them..

Yeah, its scary for sure, but if it all went to hell, I'll still be fine. I really don't care to be rich, Id just really love to make a living offering products in an industry that I have a true passion for. I don't "like" sledding, I LOVE it. I don't "want" to go sledding, I HAVE to, it gives me a day or total/complete freedom and self growth. Im very lucky to be as blessed as I am as well as live in an area with such amazing snowmobiling. So to take a risk offering a product to my fellow riders is a risk well worth taking:rockon:

Plus 1 on the quick strap. I have had a problem this year with the permanent side(the post side) coming off and the sticky stuff staying attached to the helmet. I've converted to Velcro on both sides now. Put a strip of the loop stuff on my helmet and the hook side on the goggle. Are you getting the newest anti-fog coatings on the lenses? Been pretty happy with my Klim goggles in wet foggy WA. If I was you and I was selling them that cheap I would take a page out of Costco's play book and sell them only in pairs, two for a hundy.

Ill post all the specs of the frames and lens in the next few days.

I like the two for $100 idea, but then it also defeats the purpose of affordability by doubling the price. I'd rather leave it to "you" to purchase 2 if needed ;)

DareDevil?? You should brand them as "425" goggles, hahaha.
Good luck with it. I'll buy a pair next yr when I get back to WA.
BTW, as suggested above, I would figure out how to market them to ski/snowboarders too. Lots of snowmo specific choices and a waaaay smaller overall market then the ski industry.
Only suggestion would be a nose guard option. Up here I dont use it 'cause most of the time a breath deflector is required due to the cold.
In WA, I rarely used a breath deflector or baclava and most much preferred the nose guard style goggles becuase it's never much below freezing.

^ I agree, I won't use a google without the beak guard.
I can't ride with a breath box or balcava. I get to hot. I need the fresh cold air in my lungs.

These initial goggles will not have the nose guard. While they will be a sick goggle at a really good price, they still wont be for everyone. However as the company grows and I can afford to introduce new models, I should eventually have something for everyone, at least thats the plan ;)

I can admire and appreciate the fact that you want to start something new and grow a business but what makes you want to get involved in an already flooded market?

I've probably used goggles from 10 different companies and all of them I know for a fact work for some people but not all.

Over the past couple of years the best combo that has worked for me is my 509 x5's with the evo helmet (they did not work as well with my fxr helmet) and quick strap setup. I carry two pairs now that its worked so well.

Regardless, good luck in your journey!

^ goggles are not the same for everone. I hated my 509 X5's so bad I gave them away. 2 more people in my group have them also and they also are not pleased. So in my small group the 509's are 100% failure. But u will see 100's of people that love their 509's. My point is goggles are definitely a hit and miss. Maybe a 70/30 split.
I wish u the best and can't wait to try a pair with a beak guard.

I really wanted to start something that could be sold in the snowmobile industry as it is a very strong passion of mine. Goggles are something I can afford, without pulling a loan or getting investors. I feel Goggles in general are just cool with countless different models, lenses and color combos you can choose from. And I personally would like to see someone offer a set of decent goggles that doesn't (and shouldn't) cost $100

It definitely isn't something the industry "Needs" but it also doesn't mean it wont work, I just think they are cool and fun and a good product to start with. So we will see how it goes.........

Just placed the order, there goes my savings lol :thumb:
Oh yeah, I plan on ordering in many lenses and in different types. Id really like to have them just as affordable as the compete goggles as Id love to be able to just swap em out when ever without breaking the bank.

I also have a buddy that owns a reeeaaaalllyyyyy cool company that makes beenie style hats with Blue tooth headphones built in. They are mega rad, so Im working with him on getting some DareDevil Models made up.

Finalized and placed the order, so goggles will soon be on their way! I'll be sure to purchase and test the quick strap setup on them and report back how well it does or doesn't work.

Are you going to sell spare lenses? Are they easily replaceable? I never trash the frames but a big scratch on the lenses bugs the heck out of me.

Oh yeah, I'll have replacement lenses, in multiple colors, and should only be about $15-$20 for lenses.
