Starting rope knot

I dont know what its called, but that one when you grab the wrong shoelace when taking your shoes off sure is a bugger to get undone

Just tie a regular knot then use a flame to heat the rope till soft and when it cools it will harden, and stay in tacked.

The flame is key - i usually tie what I think is called a hitch knot. Trim the end, and if you're using nylon rope melt the end you've trimmed and GENTLY heat the knot as well to harden it.
