Stampede parking

The parking lot is supposed to be used by the state to store equipment and materials for the highway project. So the lease ended at the end of march for the snow park but now it is just a big empty lot! Now no one can use it cabin owners or sledders. It is stupid for the state to screw everyone out of a lot they aren't using! I am not sure who plowed the road down like it is, but it goes past the fire station. I do Know after riding today that one of the cabin owners used his bobcat to flatten out the trail on top of the snowbank for us to ride on. The trail on top goes from near the gate past the fire station and past all the plowed areas. It was perfect to day!

The plowing was for the fire station, not home owners..

OH OK, bunch of bull.... just an ongoing fight with the homeowner at the intersection, he's been a pain ever since he moved in. I mean every year, this year he went to court to try to close the c.s. snopark.. REALLY RUFFY.you must be kidding us, RIGHT? the ulterior motive to building the fire station in that stoopid location was to be able to plow the road to the residence. There is already a fire station at Kachess and one at the top of the pass. let's get real.

What I stated was real. The agreement was that they could plow the road for the fire station. I believe the agreement was with state parks or the FS.

As to motives and the other stuff... sure sounds fine, but that isn't what is being discussed.

sorry for getting off subject and going facebook on here, nothing personal, It's just been a bad subject ever since they built that fire station. Now they're spray painting our snow to keep us out, after trying to close the snopark permanently, saying an environmental impact study needed to be done because of fuel and hazardous materials going into the water. yes, I was at the court hearing to hear this first hand. we are losing more and more area every day. I grew up in Easton and we used to ride all day without worrying about people complaining about snowmobiles or dirt bikes on the trails. not so anymore. If you buy a house on a golf course, expect golf balls on your lawn. If you buy a house next to pacific raceway, expect loud racecars. if you buy a house on a main snowmobile trail..... rant done. back to the real subject. It is now legal to park on the side of the forest service road to unload and ride your snowmobile.

gr8skidoo, where did you park? Is there room to park along the road? Were there others parked there? Are you talking about the gate to the snow park, and can a person ride from there along the road to the John Wayne and beyond? Great pics!!

I couldn't agree more!!

Yep that is where we parked, and there is room for 6-8 trucks. We had our 4 place enclosed, and there was 3 other trucks there(just don't block the road or the gates. As for the path that was plowed in by the cabin owners for us sledders. The forest service has had them remove it for some reason! There is a meeting today with parks and rec. the forest service, fire dept. and Washington dot regarding the highway expansion. It is at the DOT building off of exit 80 at 2:30. I just found out about it yesterday eve and will attend to get more details about our snow parks.

After a "public" meeting with WA state parks on Thursday in Cle Elem at the DOT building I understand a bit more about why. First off they have no money left to maintain the lot for out houses, garbage pick up, vandals, or just plain maintenance. If the parks dept. left the gate open they are responsible for all of us even if we are stupid and get stuck, drive into the pond or whatever other things we may do or cause. Second the lease was up for the season and they are already producing gravel supposedly. Third they are being extra cautious this year for many reasons! Next year (no now!) snowmobilers as a group all need to work on being better informed and taking part of these public meetings. The only other people there were cabin owners out of crystal springs and one person from WSSA. I will work on this as a sledder, but we need lots of people to get organized as a group. They are working on taking price creek and moving it somewhere else (for the highway project) and the cross-country community is trying to get involved. As of now it was built by sled funds for sleds only! If we share the trails we can lose half of the or more just like Crystal Springs non-motorized areas!

As for parking you can park on the road just like Hyak just don't block gates, and leave a single lane 10 feet wide. That is what the State parks and the fire station from that area told me.

hope this helps!
