Gentleman, What is your opinion of Spruce Lodge up on Grand Mesa? I know in the past that it has had it's share of problems and not very snowmobile friendly. I am close to closing a deal with the current owners and must decide in the next 9 days to go ahead or not. Do you think there is enough support for an expansion of winter services up there that would include, warm comfortable lodging, good food, Bar, gas/oil & misc. parts, open 7 days a week consistently, large turnaround area with parking for aprox. 20 trucks and trailers, and believe it or not a friendly, compenent staff, who actually realizes that the customer is the life blood for this type of venture? I find it to be a phenominal riding area with a little bit of every type of riding imaginable. I think it has a huge amount of potential expansion for winter activities. These are risky ventures and am looking for opinions from people who are more familiar with the area than I am, will it fly or is it a bottemless pit for an influx of cash that will never make it? Any response will be entitled to a free beer!!!! That ought to get me about a million responses! Thanks for your time.

Spruce Lodge

I think you should do a search on this site to get an idea of what people think of Spruce (at least in the winter). I hope you made an appropriate offer, because you are buying assets only, and not a going business.

I think the search will show that there is interest in a good place. Presently, not one of the twelve cabin owners I know and their many tens of friends, and the day riders I know, will go there. I won't say they make a market, but they can be a very important part of one.

You should also post this in the Colorado Section.... Will get many more Coloradoan views.

My opinion is YES!!!! Spruce and Alexander have both gone to hell in a hand basket over the past few years..... Having a reliable source for fuel, food, parts and lodging would greatly help with the winter crouds... I suspect you would also get a few of the cabin owners back... I think you would also do good in the summer..... I for one would be willing to come back up.... Hope it works out for you:beer;:beer;:beer;

Now where's my beer:face-icon-small-win
