Springfield XDM or XD

Been wanting to get an XD for a while now, and now that my yearend bonus is finally in my checking account I'm really to pull the trigger (pun intended). Here is my question for you XDM and(or) XD owners. Does the matched barrel and trigger on the M really shoot any different or better than the XD? I will not be doing any competitive shooting, just plinking, but I will be using this as my concealed carry. Is the extra $150 worth it for the M? I have heard both sides, some seem to think the trigger pull on the M is worth it alone, while others don’t notice a different and say the guns shoot the same and the difference is only cosmetic. With the current shortages of hand guns the gun shop that I go to doesn’t have any demo models I can shoot to compare, and no one in there agrees on if the $150 more for the M is worth it.

Buy the one that fits your hand the best and pulls up level, naturally.
I don't think there is enough difference between the two triggers to justify the added cost for the "M" and the barrels are just the difference between 1 3/4 and 2" groups.

I shoot a XDM 9 5.25 with a drop-in trigger kit and have about 8000 rounds through it shooting IDPA. I have a buddy that has a XD 40 and 9 that are "stock". I can shoot them just as accurately, just not at the same cycle rate.

For me, the grip fits and feels a lot better on the xdm. Plus it just looks better. Is that worth $150? Well I guess that is up to you. It was worth it to me.

the other ones are just so blah. fancier guns retain more value

Any XD variant is a good choice, they're all great guns. If you plan on carrying a lot, I'd recommend looking at a xdm 3.8 if ur set on Springfield.

I like my Xdm a little better than the XD, but they're so close in comparison shooting, most wouldn't notice.

I bought the xdm because I felt the trigger was noticeably better and I liked the way the xdm felt in my hand plus it looked cooler. I don't remember what the price difference was at the time but I recommend getting the one that you want. I usually regret the purchases that I make where I settle for something other than what I really wanted

I went into buy a Springfield and ended up with a Smith and Wessen 'M&P. it just fit my hand better. For a $150, if it feels better then that's the one. $150 now over your lifetime is not much.

Buy the XD and use the 150 for an extra magazine if you can get it!! Ammo as well otherwise it's a paper weight.

A good friend of mine has the XDM and it feels nice, problem is I cant find a XD or XDM in a tri state area. Hopefully in the next 3-4 weeks they will have them in stock. I did get my hands on a S&W MP and was impressed.

Got an XDM .40 a couple weeks ago and love it. Picked up 5 extra clips for it too!

I just bought a XD subcompact in 9mm and love it shoots great and never an issue with it.

I have a xd 45 and love it. Ive looked at the xdm's and the interchangeable backstraps are another point worth mentioning. If you have little stubby fingers or big ole paws that feature is nice. My xd fits me and that's what counts. I'm not too caught up on style points for a carry weapon, as long as it fits my hand, I can be repeatably accurate, and know it's going to go bang....good enough for me.

have both in .40 the xd feels better in my hand. the xdm hold alot more rounds though. But realistically i doubt i will ever be in the situation where that would matter.

Dunno if the OP has purchased yet or not, but I would not suggest an XDm for concealed carry. I have an XDm .40 but for concealment I have a Glock 26 with 2 round magazine extensions. The XD has a HUGE frame. They are a pleasure to shoot, but a pain to conceal. I also prefer the trigger on my Glock over my XDm. If you can't find what you're wanting at your local sporting goods store/gun shop, create an account on gunbroker.com . It's basically an eBay for firearms and is extremely easy to use, thats where I bought my Glock and where I currently get my ammo from(inflation charges apply).

If you're stuck on the Springfield, because they do look sexy...look into the XDs. Thats a little badass. :thumb:

Like we say in IDPA , it is always nice to have enough rounds to cure the problem.
