Spring rating on 05 M7??

Hey there,
What is the rear skid spring lb rating on an 05 M7? How beneficial would a stiffer spring be? The stock seams too cushy. Thanks.

I'm not sure about the spring rating. Is there a chance you have a blown shock? You might need the shocks rebuilt and revalved. That can help a lot.

Good point...

I actually just sent the shocks in for servicing yesterday and the front skid shock was hammered. I still have the skid disassembled so figured it might be a good time to look at the springs too. Do you know if the M8 springs are compatible to M7's? THanks for your help.

You could remount the spring pivot mount on the skid further back or up to increase the tension.

Do you know if the springs from an m8 are of different tension than what you have? Do you have the holz relocation bracket for your front shock lower mount? That was very helpful when I had my 06 m7.

I read on a forum a while back the M8's were stiffer and recommended to stiffen up M7's. I do have the holz relocation and it definitely made a difference.

The problem could be entirely in the bad shock?? I just don't want to press on the new bearings and find it still too soft. GAMBLE I guess.

I'd say try it when you get your shock back and see if you're happy. If not, it's easy to change the rear springs without removing the skid. Are you having your shock valved specificly for your weight and riding style? A lot can be accomplished with proper valving.

Shock is valved to my weight. I like the recommendation to test it. Especially now that we've got mass snow!

I just hate the thought of pulling the top idler wheels and bearings back off again to access it if it isn't stiff enough. Those things were a joke!
