WOW,i can't believe that,what bs be a good samaritan and that is what happens,the victim should have spoke in her defense.Most insurances cover an ambulance ride.Makes me think if i come to an accident what i should do,tell them the situation and let the ambulance make the decision,wtf.I hope she got her money back.lol.

The victim couldn't speak up (he was DOA, no insurance)so they went after the caller, that just tells you how fup'd the ambulance company is. I think her lawyer was a p.o.s. or the judge owned stock in the ambulance company.

My God! Have people become so genetically pre-disposed to "stupid" that the Spot now has to come with a manual indicating when and when not to press the dam 911 button? A 5 page, all inclusive list of incidents that may occur and when the Spot should be used? I believe fines are a deterrent. A BIG fine! What other form of consoquence for your idiotic actions is there in cases such as these? It's sometimes so very hard to believe how some members of our society have to be babysat at every turn. Doesn't anyone think for themselves anymore? Embarrassment to the human race!

I will likely never use my "911" feature, but I appreciate the utility this technology affords me and my wife. Anybody interested in them as they wander down the mountaineering store aisles, as they gather their expensive purchases together like Marmot sleeping bags, Patagucci fuzzy-tops and all manner of Yuppie gear - interested in SPOT devices to help them get tasty water from SAR via helo in a remote canyon, those kind of folks can simply perch on a satellite. I don't appreciate them for that.

Morons who hit the 911 button for non-emergencies should have to pay for S&R time and effort.
