Drilled to 480 feet the water level comes up to 80'. So I guess I have a 400 gallon reserve plus the 2.5pm . Any water system guru's out there?

Put in a couple of 2000 gallon cisterns and pump the tanks full and pump out of the tanks to the house with a constant pressure pump. The well pump can be run with a switch in the house and only turn it on when the tanks get down to 8 or 9 hundred gallons. Turn the well pump of when the tanks are full again

more than enough water. i assume it's a rock hole. i have worked on quit a few rock holes and most are timed by gallon per hour not gallon per minute. you will need a pretty expensive pump like 1.5 hp 5 or 7 gpm. make sure it's is brass pump. as far as water usage when put water meters on for the septic end of the deal most 4 bedroom homes only use 250 - 400 gpd. was it hydrofracked?

the last one we did was a 500 footer with 5 gallons per hour and they are happy with what we left them.

Yup....rock hole. Hydrofracked? You got me there! So you say most homes use 250 to 400 gpd? I have 400+gallons down the hole + 3 g/p/m and whatever I'll end up having in my line and pressure tank. The cisterns may not be needed, maybe just a larger pressure tank huh? I'm starting not to feel as bad.:) Thanks guys.:beer;

hydro fracking is a tool like a pressure washer down the well and washes the cuttings out of the crack in the granite. we don't do it all the time. if the well produces little or no water we will hydrofrack it and make it work. but you will have plenty of water. so go have a :beer; and celebrate that you have a good well. a large pressure tank would be a good idea. 60-80 gallon

hey ken you're okay, phone brad at aaron drilling 403-938-4961, his shop is just a mile east of us, i use him all the time for my real estate deals, and he's the guru of water wells, and the best part is he is also a sledder, and he rides out at sicamous lots. hope that helps. just mention that dusty referred you.

I've put lots of pumps in wells at one u.s gallon per minute and less. They are useable but should be used in conjunction with a holding tank. The well pump puts water in the reservoir and is controlled by a float switch. You then place another pump in the reservoir and it pumps water into a pressure tank in the house which is controlled by a pressure switch. Whole system is totally automatic! The nice thing about a reservoir is you always have water for those dry years and for fire protection. I also have lots of pumps in wells in the 3 usgp range with and without reservoirs(mostly without). If you give me the well drillers recommended pump setting i could suggest a few pumps for you.

pump

the cistern is a great advantage....the well will fill it when it has water and you'll always have a supply on hand, I have a 350 ft well that puts out 6-7 gph and I can easily run it out on low water years, but with the cistern it fills all nite and havn't had a problem since installing a 2000 gal, besides you could always fill it from a truck if you had to on occasion.

It will work

depending on how deep you went. I drilled one on my house in Maine that was 800 feet deep and only 2 gallons per minute. Unless you have a firehose attached to it, it will be fine.

best deal ever

quote from h2

thats nice I spent 15 K last week on a septic field

sounds like a bargain for the amount of chit you generate....

hhahahhahahahahaa

sorry man

you left that on the table and i had to pick it up..

let me have it h2 as now i deserve it....lmao

I think Code here for a 3 bed room house is 1 1/2 gal per min.

Mine is 250 ft and 10 gal. static hight is 40 ft did that one 10 years ago.

a few weeks ago I had two 450 foot wells drilled for my new house's Geo Thurmal system. Got the Guy to drill them both, put the loops in the wells and run them into the basement, and Grout the wells for $14,500 cash:cool:

.

They seem to vary alot, You will know in about a year. Took me three years to find out my first well wasn't going to cut it(8 gpm), but then I am a slow learner. we got by, but the second well 200 ft away from the first well and 20 ft. shallower is a dandy at 40 GPM.
