Just wanted to say thanks again to Mark the Owner/Operator of Thunder Mountain Lodge.
It was our first time visiting the Mesa and TML and its staff welcomed us with open arms. The three of us shared one of the cabins and it suited our needs perfectly. Ride from the cabin door and on into eternity, who could want more!
PowderPatrol and BOHICA where kind enough to show us around. Unfortunately I had some clutch problems right away on Sat so SkiB and I peeled off for repairs. Treeline and Bushy took full advantge and got a great ride in with BOHICA and a few of his friends.
Back to TML where the owner Mark once again helps out by getting the local (well GJ local) doo shop on the phone. They got the parts needed and off we go. for the 2 hour round trip drive to All Terrain Sports. Who just happened to have all the parts we needed (Spring Cup, orings, rollers, ramps) in stock. Gotta love a shop like that, wish we had more around.
By the time we are back and SkiB works his magic, ripping apart and rebuilding my clutch its about 4:20 and the rest of the gang has returned. Me and Dave head out for a little test rip and everything is sweet again....Thanks again Dave.
About the time we get back and are about to settle in a guy comes looking for help to retrieve a sled. Missing on riding during the day Dave and I jump at the chance. BOHICA and PP know the area well so they lead the charge to the down'd sled and the best route out. Oh yeah...guess who else joins in when he finds out about one of his guests needing help. Yep Mark's right there the whole way.
After many hours of tuggin and pulling by BO and PP the sled was delivered safely. No easy feat by any means. At one point to get it out of the first steep hill we had three working sleds strung together dragging the dead sled up the hill. Amazing what a little will and determenation can accomplish.
Mark keeps the kitchen open late for us to refuel and have some celebratory drinks at the bar. BOHICA has a mean wing sauce that he threw together with the curious ingredient of Grape Jelly? But sooooo good!
The snow gods must have been watching the night before because we awoke to a nice blanket of fresh. Close to a foot in some places....very nice. PowderPatrol steps in as guide for Sun and takes us deep into some great tree riding. We all took some sweet lines and all missed a few too...lol
All in all it was a great weekend on the Mesa. If you are ever heading out that way make sure to make Thunder Mountain Lodge part of it.
