SPECIAL THANKS to Thunder Mountain Lodge, Grand Mesa

Just wanted to say thanks again to Mark the Owner/Operator of Thunder Mountain Lodge.

It was our first time visiting the Mesa and TML and its staff welcomed us with open arms. The three of us shared one of the cabins and it suited our needs perfectly. Ride from the cabin door and on into eternity, who could want more!

PowderPatrol and BOHICA where kind enough to show us around. Unfortunately I had some clutch problems right away on Sat so SkiB and I peeled off for repairs. Treeline and Bushy took full advantge and got a great ride in with BOHICA and a few of his friends.

Back to TML where the owner Mark once again helps out by getting the local (well GJ local) doo shop on the phone. They got the parts needed and off we go. for the 2 hour round trip drive to All Terrain Sports. Who just happened to have all the parts we needed (Spring Cup, orings, rollers, ramps) in stock. Gotta love a shop like that, wish we had more around.

By the time we are back and SkiB works his magic, ripping apart and rebuilding my clutch its about 4:20 and the rest of the gang has returned. Me and Dave head out for a little test rip and everything is sweet again....Thanks again Dave.

About the time we get back and are about to settle in a guy comes looking for help to retrieve a sled. Missing on riding during the day Dave and I jump at the chance. BOHICA and PP know the area well so they lead the charge to the down'd sled and the best route out. Oh yeah...guess who else joins in when he finds out about one of his guests needing help. Yep Mark's right there the whole way.

After many hours of tuggin and pulling by BO and PP the sled was delivered safely. No easy feat by any means. At one point to get it out of the first steep hill we had three working sleds strung together dragging the dead sled up the hill. Amazing what a little will and determenation can accomplish.

Mark keeps the kitchen open late for us to refuel and have some celebratory drinks at the bar. BOHICA has a mean wing sauce that he threw together with the curious ingredient of Grape Jelly? But sooooo good!

The snow gods must have been watching the night before because we awoke to a nice blanket of fresh. Close to a foot in some places....very nice. PowderPatrol steps in as guide for Sun and takes us deep into some great tree riding. We all took some sweet lines and all missed a few too...lol

All in all it was a great weekend on the Mesa. If you are ever heading out that way make sure to make Thunder Mountain Lodge part of it.

Which is Thunder Mountain Lodge? We were up there too this past weekend. Snow was amazing! We were playing in about 1 1/2 feet Sunday morning for awhile.

We stopped by the old Alexander Lodge hoping to lay a few coins down at the bar, but it was closed. I thought someone bought that, and opened up the restaurant/bar. . . we were disappointed.

Thunder Mountain Lodge is the old Spruce Lodge I think...just over from Alexander Lodge. It is accessed by driving thru the visitor center parking lot. The bar and restaurant were open for business and I dare say you won't find a more sledder friendly crowd :beer;

Thank you Mark!!

Mark, thank you for being concerned for me getting to our cabin by myself, and making sure that I had a place to park. I am so grateful to have a caring lodge owner near our recreation areas!!

Tudizzle, I am the owner of the sled you pulled out that night (Clint). I want to THANK YOU all you guys for the "drop and go" help on doing that for me!!! I can't say enough about the kindness of fellow mountain sledders! I was pretty bummed but with the help of another friend we know in Delta we had my sled back up and running with parts he had for my sled the next day. You guys all made my vacation and I can't repay you enough, if I see you again out there for sure there will be more brews in it for ya. Mark also at the Thunder Lodge is an awesome man! Anyone wanting to vacation in that area has to stop and check it out for their next vacation. He has alot of great plans/ideas for that place...... hope it all works out. Thanks a TON - to all you! TuDizzle, BOHICA, RAY, MARK, JASON (my bud), and any others I forgot. YOU'RE THE BEST!!

No doubt, those really hit the spot! Thanks a ton, Mark! Clint, helping sledders in need is what we do.

I still see that sled doing a piroquette 3 times while we were towing it out. LOL. Still have a hard time believing you were able to fix it with Brozina's help and ride it all week. Incredible! Glad you guys had a good time and look forward to seeing you guys next year. Maybe I'll have a turbo by then!!!!!!!!!

Yeh Mark, you didn't know my sled like ballet?!? LOL Well if you fall down you just have to get right back up and try again!! I am little in awe that we got it back together and rollin too. W/O you guys though it would still be out there as a landmark!! You guys are the best.

Again thanks for the hospitality. You did a great job and I will and have recommended to everyone to come check your place out. Hope to see you all again!!

Talk to Rock and he will set you up with a Turbo, that is my next sled in few years.
