What plugs are you guy's using Champion's or NGK and heard there is a new plug for 12? What you guy's gapping your plugs at? been have problems fouling plugs just got new injectors but wanted to see if any thing else to try before i head out west!!!
Thanks Darren

Has anybody had any luck getting these, they have been on back order at my dealer for two weeks. Polaris must not think we need spare plugs!

I had no problem getting some spares for mine. I got them from my dealer right before my trip out West over Thanksgiving. You can always use the BPR 9ES plugs if you have to in your '12.

I talked to the dealer and the different part number on the new 2012's is the same as the BPR9ES or the champion
ngk just makes a plug specificly for polaris so they can charge more
thus the weird number on it

i had trouble fouling plugs in my '09. i switched to ngk bpr9eix irredium (sp) plugs and didnt foul another one. does any one know if that plug still crosses to use in the '12 pro?

FWIW my dealer said that polaris switched to a different plug for the 2012's. If I remember right he said something about the new plugs having better conductivity to help with the fouling issues. Anybody else hear this?

I've used the Irridium plugs for the past 3 years and have NEVER fouled one. Yeah, they cost more ($10), but beats stopping to change plugs. My dealer already installed these in my 2012 RMK. Polaris had stated in the past that these work well with the EFI and ignition.

Yes, the new plugs are a copper core version (better conductivity to help with the fouling issues) and apparently not yet available for resale. I went with the Champion offset which is RN57YCC as I was having fouling issues with the BPR9ES's last year.

Have FUN!

What is the plug number you are using, BPR9EIX?

That's what I'm using, BPR9EIX. No problems. Didn't have problems with the NGK BPR9ES, either.

Just for kicks I emailed NGK tech support and asked:
Polaris calls for the GR9A-EG in my '12 Switchback 800

Will the BPR9ES or the BPR9EIX work ok?

What is the difference between the GR9A-EG (2012 model sled) and the BPR9ES (2009-11 Models) plugs?

Answer fronm NGK:
Hello,

Sorry, but the BPR series won't work. The indexing is the biggest difference, Don't replace the GR9A-EG with the BPR9ES/EIX, as engine damage can result.

Not much of an answer.

The new plugs are available from Polaris. Just check a different dealer as most seem to have ordered them late, instead of with their pre-book in April.
