Spare gas can woes

LUckily I have the old school can, and now that they make adjustable bungies not a big deal strapping down.

If I needed a new can I would go with the mountain addiction set-up.

The Wal-Marts here and in Laramie seem to have a nice 2 gallon can. Wish the profile was a little lower though, but the spout can be reversed and stored in the can. $9. They also sell smaller 1 gallon versions, so maybe 2 of those side by side.

I've bought a couple of those, and yes you can put the spout back in but there is no seal at the mouth and I can't believe they won't leak. The older ones I have used always had a flat plastic seal that went inside the cap when you put the spout inside the can and they sealed up well. Even if the new ones sealed well at the spout tip you will still be susceptible to dirt and snow getting in the spout without a seal.

However, one of the threads above gave me an idea. I'll see if I can't just cut my own seal out of some sheet plastic. Doesn't seem like it would be rocket science.

Thansk for all the replies guys. I'd like to buy one of the 'systems' out there but I'm kind of a cheap SOB.
