South Upper Huff

Found the south upper huff on sunday with JJD2. Had a great time. Good visibility and decent pockets of snow made it a great trip. First ride out with my new helmet cam. I need to make some adjustments as it seems kind of dark in the videos. It has a blurry spot in the middle that seems to plague a few owners, so I need to send it back for a replacement. Other than the blurry spot and figuring out the settings, I think it will be a decent camera...

I think it is this way...
keep going

playing around...
having fun
more fun
still more fun

What do you think of the position of the cam? You can see my visor a fair amount, but I think that is just the way it goes.

Once I figure it out it should be good for some great boondocking.

i kept waiting to see something cool, we ride way more aggressive than that! what happened to the 50' cornice drop and back flip footage?
:D

Mag...

The camera is really easy to use. I think I need to work on the settings a bit. The vholdr contour HD 1080p has a few different settings (resolution, contrast, exposure, sharpness, bit rate, etc..) and can only be adjusted from the computer while the camera is hooked up. It kind of makes it a pain i guess...

Im still working on it. Hopefully different terrain and snow conditions can make some pretty good vids...

do you have to use vholdr as your host when you want to go online with your vids? I have been eyeing the gopro hd and this one.......they have the vholdr at REI right now.

no, but apparently youtube will select which resolution they want you to have. After they upload it, they can still degrade the video to whatever they want. I think photobucket will leave it alone though.........

Just got a helmet cam for christmas and I am realy excited to try it out. Hopefully tomorrow night I will have some footage to share. I havr the Tachyon XC. We will see how it works!

My buddy runs a helmet cam mounted on the top of his helmet. One of the things I noticed from yours that sometimes it was hard to tell what your or the sled was doing. Obviously you don't want the camera going all over the place, but one of the cool things about a helmet cam is seeing things from someone elses perspective. To me it seemed like my buddys camera mounted on top of his helmet made it feel more like you were looking out of his eyes. The only drawback would be its more prone to damage up there.

I like my contour minus how finicky it is too use on TV and certain computers. The Resolution definatly cant be on 1080p for my too use on my computer..

Guess my old stuff isnt elite enough anymore..

Where do you find these different settings you speak of?

Catillak:
The settings are in the easy edit software. You click on 'tools' then 'configure camera' to get to the adjustments. You can adjust what resolutions are recorded in the Hi/Low switch as well.

So you have the contour HD 1080p too? Do you have any blurriness issues?

Clayton:
When I mounted it on the top of my helmet, I didn't get any view of the visor at all, just open screen. It would be even harder to see the sled in that view since it would be beneath the visor. Right now, the camera just points straight ahead from the side of the helmet. Does your buddy have any footage to look at?

No issues other than the image clipping but turning the resolution down may help that. Thanks, ill try too get some videos on that site. The instructions that came with mine were very vague about using the camera haha

Catillak, the easy edit software the camera comes with sucks for viewing HD content. Download VLC and they should play back smoothly.

I think I am going to be recording in 720p for the wider angle and 60 fps.

Go to vholdr.com and look in the upper right corner. Click on support. There is tons of good info in there for ya.

curious what you mean here.....not sure what the recording quality (720 vs 1080) has to do with the being wide angle or # of frames per second?....

you are correct with wanting 60 fps but that is typically denoted with an "i"....like in 1080i...."p" would be your progressive frame rate or about 30fps...

you know I'm not being a smart azz c-bolt....:D....keep the vids coming
