On a job like that, who is normally responsible for the location of the crane? Is it the operator? Or is he told where he needs to be?
Wow, interesting pics. Almost wonder if they were supposed to put the stiff legs on the pillars?
I agree....they will hang him for it. I see there are no floats under the outriggers as well, they are used to evenly distribute the weight of the outrigger feet. Definitely his responsibility, that AT crane will be a total loss and parted out.Crane operating is a certified trade. I would say he's responsible as hes suppose to navigate the situation before any lift and/or setup. Id say hes fired.............

the triple 7 pics are nuts....can't believe they would try and walk it any distance with the boom up like that. usually they put it way out front, and the terrain must be perfectly level where they are travelling. I haul triple 7 and triple 8 parts and pieces for LaPrairie Crane up here, incredible machines....
gravy load...

Too bad that Australia deal was not in Chicago. Would be great to see the O'Hare Towing boys get called to that one.
Took a 400 and 225 (tons) to get it out.
Good call on the supports, with no floats above it would have been a pretty small area with no room for error on outrigger placement. They usually drop the dolly as soon as they get on site to maneuver the crane into position easier.the orange beams in the last picwere the shoring and the floats were under that. far right of last pic you can see the ones still standing. they might not have been directly over the support. Also when crane was driven out there it had a three axle booster/boom support pinned on. still mounted in first pic, and unmounted setting to the far left in second to last pic.
