On a job like that, who is normally responsible for the location of the crane? Is it the operator? Or is he told where he needs to be?

Wow, interesting pics. Almost wonder if they were supposed to put the stiff legs on the pillars?

Simply amazing, you would have thought that would have been noticed before putting a crane there.

All the jobs I've been on that had any kind of crane operations occurring, the operators were told where to place the crane.

I guarantee somebody got fired over that one...

Well, that was a nice 250 ton crane. Someone wasn't thinking. Did anyone get hurt?

No injuries.

Story is, this was the 6th pick (they had been on the job 5 previous times setting the other panels with a 225). Apparently, the engineer marks the spots with a big red 'X'...where the outriggers go. The builder was responsible for propping the slab.

Soooooo, something went wrong. No propping..? missed the 'x's..? size change not accounted for..? to much coffee..? Don't have the rest of the story. This was in Sept, '08.

when I was in the military they were doing a refit on a aircraft carrier and had a simular thing happen on the flight deck, needless to say the skipper was not very happy as it meant another 4 weeks in refit to fix the miss happ
