Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do....

Nice Ice cap, you must be stoked. I just finished a road trip, and one of my stops was to the dealer. We checked everything, and the tps code kept popping up on the computer. The dealer even had to reset and adjust the tps, and after a couple of hours, even they couldn't get it to stay on the correct voltage. So a new sensor and tps harness is what I ordered. I hope that will correct the problem. The mechanic also told me that it was running very rich. Must have something to do with the tps being out of wack.

I just set mine last night. My readings held steady very nicely. .710 and .930 on the dot.

Glad you got it IceCap, I believe the fluctuations you saw are the reason to set the tps on the bench with an external power source. Plus there is no way to get the baseline set while its assembled in the sled.

I agree DiscoDan that it is much better to do the base line first and do it properly on the bench with a tester.
But like the title of this thread says "Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do..."
I was lazy and didn't want to go through the hassle of making a TPS tester.

And yes the fluctuations in voltage readings I experienced had to do with trying to set the TPS while the sled was running.

At least this method gives you a quicker and simple test to check if your within spec or way out like I was seeing 1.13-1.15 volts at an idle.
