Some help needed, coming from sweden, planning a trip

Hi guys...

I really need some help, next week we are off to denver and kremmling for some riding with chris burandt. but only for 3 days :/

After that we were planning to rent snowmobiles for ourselves, up in grand lake. BUT, now they are not sure about the snow conditions.

Can anyone please help us, where to go, whitin a 5-8h drive from denver, where we could get the best snow, prefb. powder, if that´s even possible?

As little trail-riding as possible..
Any ideas where to sta, where to rent mountain-machines.

We would really appreciate any input!!

B.r Henrik, from sweden

With our current weather and this warm spell,we have had a lot of melting We are hoping for a storm early next week and if any where is going to get snow I would say Grand Mesa is a good as bet as anywhere. If you are in Buena Vista you are part way to Grand Mesa. Just take hiway 50 to Delta and go toward Cedaredge and hiway 65.
I would suggest Grand Mesa Lodge or Thunder Mountain Lodge. I perfer the cabins at Grand Mesa Lodge as you can cook your own meals plus Mike and Rose are great people. They also can arrange to have current model sleds for you to rent. They just need notice and they can confirm the price and type of sleds. This would save you from the trailering and truck hassle. Plus they have fuel on site all the time for sale.
Thunder Mountain has Roscoes for meals and the food is very good. Alexander Lake lodge is also a lodge with food service. I have yet to try Alexander so I do not know.
We like being able to fix some of our own meals and the cabins are nice and comfortable at Grand Mesa Lodge. Grand Mesa Lodge's # 970 856 3250 Give Mike and Rose a call www.grandmesalodge.com

Give me a call, I have just what you are looking for. Rentals, extreme back country and trail tours, cleanest most comfortable cabins, fireplaces, WIFI and the only restaurant and bar on the mountain. All of our newly remodeled cabins also have full kitchens if that is your preference.
We just had 2 groups here from Sweden and had 3 groups from there last year. One of the groups this year were repeats from last year.
Unfortunately the snow this year is less than ideal. Snow is quite setup, but the views are fantastic. One good thing with snow like this is you can ride nearly anywhere without worry. Great time to explore areas you may not try and go into when there is 3' of fresh powder. We can accomadate. check out our webcam also. Thanks, Mark www.thundermountainlodge.com or check out our website at thundermountainlodge.net. 970-856-6240

Your best bet would be go to washington state, they are getting HAMMERED with snow.

Hi, and thanks again.

That sounds good, but any more specific places in Washington state?
Tried to find some more info, but somewhat hard when you don´t know the name of any places...

If you bring a c70 inscription (white) with you, i will show you some fresh corn snow (ha).

BTW, the fact i am looking at convertibles right now tells you what kind of winter we have had.

B.R. Please give me a call as the number you left for us this morning does not seem to work or we copied it wrong. Thanks, Mark Thunder Mountain Lodge 970-856-6240

The lower trails were better than we thought they would be on the 19th. West out of Idle Glenn was horrid and by the 20th and 21st the trail from the Glenn towards North Supply was showing bare spots as well. We rode mostly on the north side of the mountain and averaged 60 miles per day. Our trip was supposed to be for 4 days of riding but we left 1 day early. It's gonna take a Huge, Huge, Huge Dumping to get any more riding at G/Lake !!! Im just looking forward to next season !!! >>>>.

Thanks--I was afraid of this--the grandkids are still trying to get me to take them up over spring break but your report has confirmed my decision to cancel the vacation. Looking forward to next year is a good plan:face-icon-small-coo
