Soft water

Thought I would ask my forum friends.....
My son has really sensitive skin and eczema. Looking at soft water options to help him out. Superior air and water or culligan seem like my options.

Any thoughts?

I did my own plumbing and then had Peak Water Systems come put the softener unit in. Got a nice unit at a much lower price then Culligan or Superior. Peak makes the units you see at Lowe's; I have the largest one.

To have good tasting water at the kitchen sink and fridge I ran a untreated water line to a point under the kitchen sink and then put in a separate tap. To make sure that water is clean I put in a reverse osmosis filter made by Watt.

The fridge has it's own filter so I let that take care of treatment for Ice and cold water.

Superior quoted me over 5K to do what I did for myself for less then 1 K including the softener.

Top of the line, water sensing softeners cost considerably under $1000... always makes me shake my head when a water softener company wants to charge $3k+ for a water softener.

Thanks all........

I consider myself very capable of doing any work/installation myself but had never considered it.

Guess its time to start shopping around for a unit.
