Socialism, coming to a small town near you!

I live in a small town of about 1800 people, so every job & every employer is very important to our community.

We learned this week that one of our factories is shutting down.
When hearing this one automatically thinks....bad economy-can't keep workers busy.

No, just the opposite. Can't fill enough of the positions to meet their production!
This is not a new start up, they've been in this plant over a decade & other locations considerably longer.

My take on this?
Why are we allowing locals to receive unemployment, welfare & other programs that allow them to live the jobless lifestyle?

F'd up for sure!

Big government has trickled down into every nook and cranny in this country and is now poisoning our rural communities like it's doing to yours. You can't find help anymore, let alone good help. Nobody want's to work. It's a damn shame!

People are more interested in complaining about how hard they have to work when they have a job than actually being a contributing member of society and sucking it up. I have a great job and I am thankful for it. That doesn't mean that I love waking up at 2:45 in the morning 5 days a week and riding a bus 100 miles each way. I do it because my family depends on it and because it's what makes this country great. You can work the job you want and live how you want, if you so choose. Then you have the other side of the fence. It's so much easier this day in age to whine about your problems. Our government has given people the perception that if they whine loud enough and get enough people to join them, they will listen and pacify them. Hence long term unemployment benefits and our climbing unemployment rate.

the government is just prolonging the inevitable.print more worthless money, keep the sheep happy for now.eventually the chit will hit the fan though.i heard last week that the computer system for the food stamp debit cards was down for like 8 hours and people were freaking out at walmart because they couldn't get their free food.too many people depending on the welfare system.when I was a kid, it was something to be ashamed of to be on welfare or to not have a job.today its a free for all for all lazy f*cks!!!!!! I honestly believe its time to thin the herd!!!!

If you loose your job you should get unemployment for a month. If you haven't found some sort of a job by that time you should have to report to the glue factory where you would never be seen again. No free-loaders and lots of cheep school glue.

I despise socialism and agree there are too many handouts today....we're creating a lazy society with no work ethic.

However, I'm wondering if there isnt more to this story?

"Can't fill enough of the positions to meet their production!" .....this cannot be the sole reason for a complete shutdown.

I like the idea of a limited time frame, however I understand that not everyone's situation is the same. So flexibility to circumstances is reasonable.
Here's a thought.........
Whatever is received through entitlement programs can be paid back.
If not paid back, this would simply be taken off of the front side of your social security.
Example.......
If you collect unemployment for 2 years throughout your life without paying it back, and you will have to stay in the workforce 2 years longer than your peers that did not receive unemployment (or received it & paid it back).

That is an acceptable plan but doesn't provide for any school glue.:face-icon-small-win

This factory that cant seem to get/keep employees, what are the wages?????????

Wage is a huge factor when I'm deciding on a job.

I agree with you if it boils down to a company competing with another company for employees.

However, our companies are now competing with entitlement programs.
Able bodied people are sitting on their arse collecting instead of actually working and being a productive member of society.

I guess I don't understand how a company shutting down a production facility because there is a shortage of workers and moving it somewhere that there are enough workers is socialism. It only becomes socialism if the laid off workers are content to stay where they are and suck from the government tit. Any self respecting human being would pack up and move where the jobs are and earn a living rather than live on handouts.

My point is that our town has potential workforce, but too many choose to suck the govt tit instead of working.

I say lop off the tit.
Work or starve.
Problem solved.

I live in a town smaller than yours, about 800. It used to have a college in its hay day but that shut down in the 80's thanks to the state government. The college was turned into a prison which employs a ton of people in our farming community. We also had a company by the name of Chicago-Rawhide Industries there (they made seals ect, and moved to mexico) and it employed probably 400 people, it shut down and our schools have since consolidated. We are a farming community so as long as the prison stays open we will be a town. Kind of weird to think there are more people locked up in the state pen than our town has for population.

This IS GOING TO HAPPEN the hard way, because nobody wants to wean off the tit!

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class... had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".. All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A.... (substituting grades for dollars - something closer to home and more readily understood by all). After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little. The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F. As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed. Could not be any simpler than that.

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation
