so...who's had vertebra fusion surgery?

How did it turn out? regrets? recovery? what part of spine?

Yuck dude!!!!!! My mother & bro-inlaw both have had lower fuzions done, Get a second & third opinon & a fuzion as a last resort. The fuzion stresses the verts above & below the fuzion causing issues down the road.

Anyone reading this "Take care of your back"!

I had it done about 14 years ago.
I didn't really have a choice by the time it was done.
I went through all the strength training and physical therapy but lost the feeling and strength in my left leg one day.
I had the surgery the next day by a surgeon that was going to be working on my neck a few months from then.

I got all the feeling and strength back that was there prior to the surgery but since I don't follow my own advice about keeping fit I still get a bad pain in my lower back when I do something stupid like shovel snow in a bad posture or lift an RT out of a deep hole or whatever.:D
It can be debilitating at times but it always gets better. Sometimes it just takes a while before the pain subsides.

Your absolute best bet is to become as fit as possible and keep your core muscle group strong but once the damage is done and you must get the surgery to be able to move then don't let those who have never experienced it give you advice.

Didn't get the fusion, had a laminectomy/discectomy a little over a year ago. They took out a little bit of the disc and some bone above and below. L3-L4. Walked into the hospital pain free, with a numb right leg from my knee to my ankle. A week later I barely shuffled out with tremendous back pain and a numb right leg from my knee to my ankle. Not exactly a rousing success. 10 days later I was back in with a leak of cerebro-spinal fluid. So here I sit, a year later, a slight backache that never goes away, and a numb right leg from my knee to my ankle. Would I have been better off just living with it the way it was? Hard to say. I can tell you that a shot of Toradol normally took the pain away when I did hurt it. If I had a time machine I'm not sure I would have gone through with it. My best advice to you is research the surgeon, they aren't infallable. TRUST ME on that one!
