so long Cooke City

Rumor has it that everything north of Hwy 212 will be wilderness area. Hey guys this is Daisy Pass, Lulu Pass, and all of your favorite riding areas. Call your Senators and Reps. Some wackhead from New Jersy is pushing this. Don't sit and wait Get up and move.

There is a hue thread over in General snowmobiling in regards to this. I have personally wrote my MN Senator and congress people about this issue.

I hate to be negative but wrting your senator doesn't do jack. They already have their mind made up. If they can't close it this year they will try again and again until it's gone

coordinate your efforts with SAWS... snowmobile alliance of western states

G, this stuff will never end until they get it all.

Let's see, Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act (NREPA)

Roadless areas.

Omnibus wilderness bills.

Endangered animal habitat, say wolverine, fisher (wolverine smaller cousin), Canada Lynx, Grizzly Bears, Mountain Caribou, gray wolves, masked bobwhite quail, big horn sheep, sage grouse, black footed ferret, bald eagle, wild salmon..... you get the idea.

Their hitting us with everything they got. From every direction. If you really care, get your wallet out, or be prepared to march and protest.

If you really care, keep riding it. It's everyones land, not one persons land to keep closed. We all pay taxes on it and they want to keep you out. F*ck that.
If everyone continues to follow along pretty soon you'll be riding nothing

If enough people just ride it anyway, they will have no choice but to manage it accordingly. This is how the envirozealots got their way to begin with, maybe we should start doing it to get our land back.

I do donate to SAWS on a regular basis. But it also does not hurt to let my Senators know how I feel about this bill. Granted, they have their mind made up about this issue, but if enough people contact them in regards to this, they just might listen.

I hope this does not happen but if thier minds are made up, it is only a matter of time.:(

like I said before .."No Commie Liberal fawk will stop me from ever going where I want to including the parts where I grew up ...hunting, fishing, trapping, riding or what ever

Montanas only Rep. Denny Rehberg is one hell of a good guy. He is against this, But with the likes of one of our Senators ( Max Baucus) Who knows what he will do. This man wants to tax our health Insurance as income. What we get from work. Tax Tax Tax and restrict us. Someone will blow someday soon.

Actually your wrong Sawyer...It is all about scale and scope...how many people write...and how many people take time to call...

The whole reason it is a New York Congresswoman pushing this, is that our local (rockies based) congressmen and senators wont touch this with a 1000' pole as they KNOW it will cost them their seat...

So, if we dont give them our passion behind this, WE will lose...

I deal with these guys almost daily in my job, and know the impact of phone calls and letters...

emails dont carry nearly as much weight...but contacting them is a VERY powerful tool, one that the Left has used against us quite well...

Have spoken with Chief of Staff for Baucus and the Senator is against this bill, and working to get it shut down behind the scenes...Tester was not as vocal about it, but he too was against it...

hopefully we wont see this thing make it out of committee...The Wyoming Congresswoman (Lummis) and the Utah Congreesman just eviscerated the bill sponsor...watched it live, it was pretty fun!!! :)

I got a response back from one of our state Rep's. She said she voted for it and thought it was a good thing for the environment and economy. She said that allowing people to recreate on public lands is a big deal for her and she went on and on about that topic and from what I read she had no clue that since it will be designated Wilderness that the recreation will all but cease. I really couldn't beleive what I was reading and had to go back through and re-read what I wrote to her and make sure I referenced the right bill and it was all right there.... She thinks that voting for the bill is the right thing to do to allow us to continue visiting the area and enjoying with our friends and family as we do now and this will help to ensure it is there for us to enjoy in the future.

Ridiculous. I would bet most of the dipshtits that voted for it have no idea what the designation means for the area and the economy in those area's.

Let's have our own "Tea Party" at one of the area's shut down next season. 10-20 people probably wouldn't cause much of a stir but if we could manage to get a couple hundred sledders together......... I realize that it'll probably be too late by then so maybe we should organize a gathering in DC?

I've never been to Cooke City, but was REALLY hoping to in the next year or 2 and can't imagine the thought of all these awesome riding area's being a thing of the past when the kids are old enough to hit them.
