So I have to get in shape says my doc...what works?

I am very interested in the P90X program, has anyone tried it??

I read the minimiums and I can do all of them http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/yhst-63946550236558/p90xfit-test.pdf

If you can't do these then P90X won't work so well.

I'd have a hard time doing the gym thing, but could if I found it neccesary..Problem is I don't really know what I'm doing and wouldn't have a good program. Might need a trainer part time $$$

anyone else have any luck with a program?

I used a earlier version of the Power 90 workout and it worked great for me. It took me a couple of weeks before I could even get close to keeping up with the DVD but I droppped weight and gained stamina pretty quick. I still have it, in fact I dug it out a couple of weeks ago but just haven't worked up the gumption to start again.

My brother has the p90X and I did some of the workouts with him, I can't believe how much a workout with no weights and very little equipment will kick your arse. I would do either that or the "Body for Life" program.

too round?

If you can run, do it.... nothing else will shed pounds and gain fitness like a good run, even if only a couple miles 2-3times per week... And try to get in some weights and core workouts too; you will be amazed at the difference you it will make in your riding!

Kinda funny you mention that my employer just sent out an e-mail that they will pay us to fill out a health assessment and do a 5 week online training thing. Its an easy $100 so I'm in.

gym

A lot of companies (mine included) will cover the cost of a gym membership... cause statistics show that healthy employees will actually show up for work (so they can surf Snowest all day and get paid!!!)

my dad bought it I looked through it... looks like alot of high heart rate workouts... Im sure it would work pretty good to drop weight... of course like most people he bought it and hasn't used it once.

i've been running 3 miles at 5mph every day, and eat one meal a day. you will lose 3-5 per week if you stick to it. it's simple you got fat because you ate to much and not enough exercise. if you have the will power you can do it. my biggest prob was pop, ive been drinkin 4-12 cans of coke a day for 15 years and this spring i quit cold turkey got use to diet dew and love that now. truthfully i can't drink a can of coke now.

ya, havn't drank a can of the 'real stuff' in years, way too sweet its nasty

think I'll start off joggin and bicycling, its free and if I stick to that then I'll add in pushups and pullups.

one meal a day?

think I'll do 6 very small meals a day, boost my metabolism and not put my body in starvation mode

Great job on dropping soda and doing the road work, but you are really hurting your gains by only eating one meal a day. Those 3-5 pounds probably consist of alot of muscle since your body is being starved and is preserving your stored fat cells. I would mix in some weights and eat at least 3 meals a day, tapering off your carbs as the day goes on. Remember, being healthy and getting in shape is not all about losing weight.
