I had some bad luck with the last few polaris sleds I owned, so I sold my Assault last week and now pick up my new m8 today!!! I ended up getting a hold over std. m8 after searching for sno pro's and hcr's missing out on some deals or guys not willing to take reasonable offers

I plan to do a riser I am thinking ole's 6" 15 deg riser
2010 seat
skinz ultra q silencer
extra venting
slp intake
Maybe hcr skis

This is my first cat so any suggestions are welcome since I dont know many of the cat specific companys or what works good together

Thanks guys

Welcome aboard! After years of bad mouthing them, I too am new to Cat coming off Yamahas. It's not that the Yamahas were bad (Exciter 570, Ovations, Phazer 500, MM 700, MSRX 700, RX-1M) I just wanted a light weight sled where the engine stays together (unlike a couple of the other 2009 800 two stroke options).

What year is your M8 "leftover"? Is it an 08 or 09?

I have the SLP air intake too (because it goes with the SLP performance edition package) but, I also have a BDX airbox that I plan to migrate toward once I get a feel for the package. So, I recommend a BDX or Timbersled airbox.

Taking delivery of my first Cat today, 2010 M8 LE, coming off a Yamaha Apex, though the apex is still in the stable for lake running days, the M8 is going to be the main choice.

Congrats on your purchase!!

I too did the same thing but i did not have any bad luck with polaris. Hopefully the cats meet the high expectations that they are given

forget about getting The hcr skis. Get yourself some powder pros they work great! Congrats on the new sled! Welcome to cat!:beer;

I bought a cat end of last season as well. 09 M1000 new. I bought it from Aaron Kreps who owns tots (the outdoor toy store). Came with can, airbox mod, powder pro skis, side vents, z bros front shocks, boss seat and clutch kit. It came from the showroom floor with all that on it and I paid what a out of the box from the factory retail sled would cost. Best of all with Aarons clutching it held rpm and pulled hard everywhere. Best set up from a dealer I've had so far.

Just ask Speeedracer what the text message said after I had rode my new M8 for the first 10 miles !!! Good choice!! >>>>.

Welcome to Cat

I highly recommend the HCR skies they are my favorite and have tried them all.
Do you ride in Min or do you come out west?

Welcome to Cat. I jumped from SkiDoo 3 years ago. I'm on my second M which is an -09 std. also. Here are my suggestions from your mod list: vent it, fine tune the clutching, riser, and ride it some. Next, would be the skis. Then, ditto what Headrush says or retain the stock exhaust, skip the can only. For the seat, go with Boss.

Have fun!

m8

CONGRATS on the purchase! I just got my 2010 HCR, the new skis on this one are a snocross ski! The boise a-c rep said they arent that great in the powder...what skis were on last yrs HCR?? were they a powder ski?? I have my silencer on order just waiting for some more goodies to come in..gonna start on the polishing adn then start the powder coating.

left Polaris in Feb of last year and bought new 09 m8 limited. Been on Polaris my whole life. If i would have only knew then what i know now. I would have switched long ago. The m8 is a great sled. I just finihsed gearing mine down, Full SLP exhaust, reclutched and balanced both clutches. excited as heck to ride it.

good choice

I have a different style windshield to put on my M8, I noticed they are held on by little black pushpins or whatever they are called, when I get my sled how big of a pain are they to remove?

Congrats on coming to the "right team!" I think I am going to switch from my Rox riser to an Ole's, sure looks nice. I am not a fan of the super skinny HCR skis, I like the powder pros or C&A Pro XT's. The new seats look like a cheap alternative to a Boss, a can is a good idea, but be careful about adding intake mods without a fuel controller, get some good advice on that first... The only thing I would add is a two wheel kit if it is an 08, if its an 09 you don't have to worry about it. Once again, congrats!

Its very very easy. Get a set of plyers(Spelling?) and pull them out. It'l take you less then 5 minutes to swap a windshield.

I would look into a boss over the 2010 seat. There is a post that was just posted on the weights between the cat seats and the 2010 isnt all that much lighter and will still soak up water. For a few dollars more you can get the new boss seat which wont soak up nearly as much water and will weigh another 5 or so pounds less. Also as was stated I would look into an slp pipe kit, and get the clutching squared away and you will be set.

order a few extra windshield darts and keep them in your bag, when you flip it over and the windshield pops off and it does easy you will not have to spend all day looking for the darts!
O and welcome to the best team out.....
