That's disappointing, I had hoped we could be confident in them if they didn't fail in the first 20 miles.

You know that was just wishful thinking, I don't know the exact mileage of one of my buddies sleds, but I'd guess it was a couple hundred miles when his cracked.

Its a tough call, you can be in a very volunerable place when it desides to let go. I will ride it like it is, but if I was running a turbo or extra $$$ and HP, I'd be doing something else. Hate to right off a sled due to polaris quality control...you think polaris wouldl cover something like that. A blown drive shaft and trashed sled ? I'll be hauling a spare sled too...:face-icon-small-con

LOL....that's what sledding is all about.

Maybe the fix will be a 7.5:1 comp. head....everything will last forever + it'll be easier to start, cheaper fuel....SO many benefits!

Yes, it seems delusional that we can have reliability and performance in snowmobiles. I don't think I'm the only one who wants that to be more than a delusion.

However, I can make the argument that building an unreliable snowmobile is more profitable. Polaris, Doo, and Cat are in business to make profit, not to make reliable products. So long as you don't have a competitor who builds a reliable product for about the same money then building an unreliable product is very profitable.

Building an unreliable product reduces engineering, R & D, testing, and manufacturing costs. When you know your cost averaged warranty costs just build that into the MSRP so that the consumer pays for it up front. Then when warranty is over, you have a very lucrative parts and consumables business. As most dealerships make their profit from the service department, an unreliable product is a god send for the dealer. Then finally an unreliable product drives future sales when people try to escape the unreliable money pit that they own by buying a new one. Ingenious really, despicable, but capitalism at it's best and worst.

Does anyone know the story behind the one vote for yes and disatisfied?
Broken Shaft?

Why do people set up a loll like this & not make it so that results are public?
Pointless.

Btw, WTF is negative feedback? " I read some negative feedback on SW"... does that count?

I'd like to know that these are worth the purchase, and having anonymous polls with ambiguous questions sure doesn't do much to help.

I am not going to vote.

I have no positive feedback because I think it is a total band aid and Polaris is really F-ing us over with this one. You don't have that choice.

I really like the new sled. I am pissed at polairs cause this is total crap, not a fix.

I really really like my dealer, he installed a happy face clamp before the polaris ones come out cause he knows I go into the back country on the other side of the state from him (he has gone out into the field to put new shafts in guys sleds). The only way out of this in-order for me to buy another Polaris is for them to prove that the next one out is legit and put it on my sled.

Polaris take your oil and l____ ____ ____!!!

I have 87 miles on mine , to be going to island park dec 28th , hope she don't blow a drive shaft !!!! Received the recall letter yesteday from Polaris and certificate for a gallon of oil . After i drive 740 miles , pay lodging , fuel , hope all i use of recall is oil :) . First polaris i have even owned ,last 20 years on cat .

Got my clamp today from my dealer in Norway, have 60 miles on it. Looks solid. Most important, this sled rips!!!

real fix

Just thought i would pass this along. I had a 3 inch track put on while i was in Baja for a month and had the driveshaft problem solved once and for all.
