Snowy Mountain Lodge

I'm not buying any tank, thats what I was told lol. I guess I don't see what the issue with driving five miles down to Cent is anyways, unless they don't have premium.

I know when we go to Togwotee for a week each year we always take as much fuel with us as we can. I can't imagine we're the only people that think this way, gas cans are cheap.

I'll speak for myself - I am sure others have their own reasons why they want SML to sell gasoline.

It's not that we aren't smart enough to buy gas cans to keep from paying $5.00 a gallon for premium - what we are looking for is a place where you can buy gas on the trail if you ride from other areas on the mountain (Chains End, Albany, Fox Park, etc.). Strapping more than 2-3 gallons on a sled is tough to do.

We primarily ride out of Albany because that is where our cabin is. I'd love to be able to buzz down to SML in the afternoon to top off our tanks so that we could play off trail all the way back instead of watching our fuel gauges after playing behind the peaks.

I carry enough fuel for a whole day on my sled but I can understand why people want it.

- not practical to run down to Centennial

- riding out of albany or the west side, like a lunch stop, top off tank

- staying at the cabins either Snwy Mtn Ldg or Mtn Meadow

- some people make an unplanned trip back to parking lot, top off good idea

- weather may suck, come to Snwy to eat lunch, top off tank

etc

Not saying it is worth it or not, just thinking why people would want.

Great points guys, I'll ask again and double check the numbers, but I just don't think it'll be economical on our end.

The fuel itself may not make a profit but it may bring in additional business because you have it.

Kind of like when my Dad owned a bar/restaurant - free popcorn and peanuts. Yes, those items cost money but the patrons loved it and it made them thirstier.

Can't wait for the peanuts at the friendly.:face-icon-small-hap

IMO.....will not stay on Cennt side going to Albany this year....Filling sleds with new safty cans in Jan with 60mph winds....Not again....

I know one time i was sure glad to see those cabins! Our group of about 7 or 8 guys crammed into two vehicles got snowed in up there, come off the mountain and you couldnt see your hand in front of your face, and the road from Centennial to Laramie was closed. Luckily we got one of the small cabins and stayed the night there. Way much better than having to stay in the vehicles!

So maybe I missed it... But is it going to be open to the public to go in and see the lodge? It use to be so nice inside.

Should be open soon. We worked on cleaning and plumbing the nicer cabins last weekend, putting the lag bolts into the lodge where the siding had come off, and cutting down lots of trees. I don't know if anyone saw the blue dodge pulling around a huge log yesterday but that came from the lodge. It was quite the interesting situation to get that thing on the ground. I'll keep you posted as I learn more.
