Snowmobile jacks

Any one using one of these jacks. Yes I get stuck, sometime real stuck. I would like a little input on the Snowbuddy which is a take apart unit. I would perfer a take down unit as I do not want to have the jack hanging off my sled. My back is getting old and weak and freinds are few and far between when I am stuck. The bastages just laugh and take pictures.
Looking at the
Snowbuddy http://www.snowbuddy.com/
The Snowjack http://thesnowjack.com/
I have a Highlift but just keeps getting in the way when riding and moving from side to side.
Thanks Mike

A friend had one on his apex, and it fell off riding down the trail and got sucked up his track and shot right int the engine compartment and through the cooler, sled was totaled out.

Nice, which one?

I would like to get a HighLifter, but I'm not real keen into drilling a bunch of holes into my new CR tunnel. :face-icon-small-sho

I do like the idea of the break down rod, wonder how well it would hold up to use.

I rode with a guy this weekend that had a Snowbuddy, we were in areas with 2 to 4 feet of fresh, dry powder. Trenches being dug into the snow 4 to 5 feet and getting stuck. We would clear the snow out from under the tunnel so we could a decent level surface for the base of it to sit on, tie the strap around the rear bumper of the sled and just jack it up, push it over to one side and it was done. With the base of the snowbuddy being on a swivel it was pretty handy as using it as a scoop to get the snow out.

I think it usually ended up taking us longer to assemble the jack than it was to get the sled unstuck... But it definitely seemed a lot nicer having the jack break down so we could store it in a tunnel bag.

High Jacker

The pole is really not much of an issue. I mounted the jack under the running board on my RX-1. The Nytro has a wide enough running board that I put it above this time. I will not ride without it. My 2 cents.

I have to say that I was skeptical about the highjacker staying on but I now have 500 miles of backcountry riding in with it and I have not lost it once. It payed for it's self in the first use as I was in a 10 foot deep running spring hole and was able to extract myself unassisted.
In the last two months, have have rolled my sled 8 times, rear bumper over front flipped it once, been jammed in trees, fallen in 10+ deep holes and generally have beat the hell out of my sled and that jack has not fallen off once.

I'm a believer now and love that thing!

Those that don't have them laugh at them.
Those of us that have them LOVE THEM and wonder why it took so long to get one in the first place.

Spike,

Pretty much everything that can be said about your jack question, has been said. A matter of fact, this has been one of the most "civil" jack discussions ever seen on this board in the last 2 years. (I guess everyone finally realizes that the Snowjack is the way to go:boink:)

Seriously though, go with the full jack, forget the breakdown type.

Finally, although Logger has me by a few months, he speak'eth the truth...

Good luck and safe riding.

Get stuck on purpose and let us know how it works...

Actually, I was looking at them, they just seem bulky and heavy. I always try to lighten as much as I can, but I do get stuck alot and the more I hear about the positives of them, the more I want to try one out. Just hate spending money on things that dissapoint me after I get them, if you know what I mean.

I ride a pig RT and cant lift the back by myself, and usually am in a place where they just point up and laugh at me. I roll it if I can more often than not to get out, but even that can be difficult sometimes.
