For those of you that were trapped in cheyenne or flat out didn't make it up there.
You didn't miss a thing.
went thru laramie at around a quarter after 8. Fog, icy roads, not looking good.
Got 3/4 of the way to centennial and we broke out of the fog and the mountain was lit up with nice clear sunlight.
Looked like a blue bird day.
WRONG!
Got up, unloaded and decided we would go out on libby and do some wind row jumping. As we were doing this we noticed a front moving in fast, so we decided to beat feet off libby and head over towards chit house hill. The fog rolled in and the world started going away.
We hit 130 and headed towards north french creek.
Solid fog. Total flat light. Sucked big time.
By the time we hit north french you had to play in the trees because you flat out couldn't see.
Worked our way around and headed over to the north side of widow maker. Figured we would hit the roller coasters and then cut back over by widow maker and head back to the truck. The sledding sucked.
We broke out of the roller coaster and the world went away. we couldn't see the mountain right in front of us. We decided to take a risk and run the existing tracks and simply follow them out.
BAD MISTAKE.
We cut across and headed towards the gap. Dropped off the first hill and literally, the world went away. I was dragging my boot in the snow to gauge my speed and to see if I was even moving. Visibility 10'. Decided to wait about 10 minutes to see if the fog would clear enough for us to get our barings. Nope.
Do a shore run (run the perimeter) to see if we could pick up the tracks again. nope. Wind blew em full. So, we headed back up the hill we had just come down and went back out the way we had gone in. Ended up going back to north french creek, cut across to 130 and took 130 back to the truck.
NOT FUN.
So if you are worried you missed something.
You didn't.
3-6" of new snow in the open areas.
6 - 10" of new snow in the trees.
