Snowest big turbo shoot out?

Anybody notice letter to the editor this month? Asking for a turbo shootout review similar to the 800 class.

I think this would be a GREAT idea. Turbos are all over the market and it would be nice to see a review. Problem is how do you create a level testing for each one? I think you just take a STOCK sled and put each of the competitors turbo kit on it and go for it. NO other mods! Who all would like to see this? post what turbo brands and sleds you want tested. What kind of guidlines? Lets see if we can get SJ to get this done.
I personally think this would get alot of attention! lots of issues sold for this test.

Come on SW staff make this happen!

I think this is something that the members/mods of the forums could put together yet this year.

It would be great to get together and put them head to head, same brand sleds (from all makers Yam, cat, doo, poo)!

That way, it is out there for everyone to read on the forums here... and get good feedback/discussions going.

Get the Turbo mfgs to do their "best setup" and run it that way... Kind of like a stock sled shootout where the sleds are not modified from the makers (turbo builders in this case).

id say good luck getting all the turbo mfgs to show up. to big of a risk for them in my opinion

RISK...holy crap. they would welcome that kind of risk IMO. Just think Boondocker shows up with a stock sled and in 3 hours adds a turbo kit to it and sets best #s' then pulls best line of all.....sales through the roof! but if they suck....better put there money where there mouth is. If they believe in there product and its proven they will do it.

They could even do two class's. One is best what they bring and another bring a stock sled and give them a allotted time to put there setup on and run it. Would make for great interest! Kind of a reality sled tv deal.

I watched a 65 mustang do a lap time on a track stock with a professional driver once and they would post his time.
Then a suspension company would take SAME car in real time and add a suspension kit, run same lap with pro driver and post time. As day would proceed they would keep adding more mods to car that anybody can buy and by the end of day loaded with mods run same lap. You could clearly see the value of each mod.

Same concept could apply here.

each of the companies work a certain aspect of the turbo market. a head to head shootout/hillclimb shows you whos kit is the fastest in a straight line race. im certain many of the kit builders are aware others will outrun theres in a head to head drag and they would be shooting themselves in the foot as its not what they set there kits up to do.

Thats why its up to Snowest to put this test out and make it happen. Just like the 800 shootout. This would be like getting the all time hottie from Hollywood (Sara Palin) to do a playboy shoot but only in the world of sledders

all it would take is something to not work 100% on someones kit and that kit will get bashed in the write up and in the process destroy the company's name. why would you want to risk that? would it be neat to see yes, but i just can't see it happening.

Great idea, and I'd love to see it, but I doubt there are many turbo sleds out there with no other mods. Having no other mods would severely cut down in the number of qualified participants. IMO

I think it'd be awfully hard to be objective with this since there are so many turbo kit mfg's out there these days.

As much as I'd love to see something like this, there is no way I'd trust Snowest to be objective.

As you can easily see from things that happen from Admins on here (people on the SW side, not SWOL) you can see they take care of their sacred cows, and could care less about the rest.

I've seen this over & over, and can't imagine that it would be any different in print than it is online, it's just more obvious here if you pay attention.

Let's just not do it, and know that boondocker wins the test no matter what SW is claiming is the crieria.

Honestly, I can see them doing it, I'm simply saying that I (and the other MFG's who have seen how they operate) know exactly how it would end up... so them doing it isn't telling us anything imo.

I'd love to see one done, don't get me wrong, but biased comparisons are worse than no comparisons.

What kind of setup would you think they'd want to test though? The basic, bottom dollar pump setup? Or each company's biggest & baddest?

I like the in-between, a mid level race setup, but that's such a hard thing to compare. I'd love to see a "sled plus $5k, who can get the most from it" kind of thing, that's how I decide what to buy anyhow... dollars are always a factor.

i mean SW is so scared to pick a winner in any of there comparrisons what would make this any different... didnt a mod just get the boot because he was stating the truth about 2 different turbo manu's??????
