Snowbike on a Sled deck

How many guys load their bikes on a deck? I haven't used my deck in a couple of seasons but I might throw it back on the truck this year. How is that terror trip up the ramp and what do you have as far a ski guides etc on the ramp? How about coming down?

its sketchy, but we did it last season. takes 2 guys to load one bike, walk it up the ramp with the 2nd guy pulling the ski up, have your straps ready.

to unload, we just pulled them off, no ramp.

good luck

My buddy has the So-Low Sled Deck and it works awesome. We normally haul two bike with it, but you could get a 3rd one in if you loaded it backwards.

One thing you want when loading on sled decks.... HAND BRAKE. Otherwise you will eventually take a trip backwards down the ramp and eat it.

I did the hand brake so that part is done. In ten years I've only gone off my deck once on a sled and that was enough. I checked out your link but I'd like to be able to load a couple of sleds as well so the single thing isn't an option. I may weld up a new ramp for the bikes.

Why bother with a deck? 2 bikes will fit in the box easy.

I need to carry 2 sleds sometimes as well. A buddy of mine builds and sells those hydraulic decks, they work good but they take up your whole truck box. Mostly the bikes will just be in the 4 place but it'd be nice for early and late season to have some options.

I have loaded mine a few times on the deck by myself. Up is no big deal, just walk beside the bike as you are loading and keep the front ski on the super glides. When you lean the bike a little to the centre the track catches the wrungs on the ramp and you will have no issues with slipping. Unloading is a bit of a bitch but I have done by myself as well, just have to line the bike up in the superglide tracks and they will keep the ski straight and pull it down from the grab bar at the back of the bike. The transition between the deck and the ramp can be a little tricky (this is where the second guy holding the ski straight helps) but once you are past this point you can quite easily hold the balance on the bike and slide it off.

How do you deal with cutting up your driveway when using the So-Low Sled Deck? I got tired of tearing up my driveway so I bought a Sure-Grip dolly to load my MH. I've been using my Harbor Freight tri-fold ramp with the dolly to load the bike. It works pretty well. This season I've added aluminum angle channels to the ramp to help guide the dolly wheels up the ramp.

I've always backed my trailer (or truck in this case) right up to my shop door and loaded from the garage, never hitting the rough poured concrete that is my driveway. If I had to run down the driveway ever my plan was to cut a piece of plywood into super-glide width sections and screw some glides into them.

You could also build yourself a ski dolly for pretty cheap. Allen passed out the homemade procedure in one of these threads.
