Snow sticks to Plastic Skis - Comments or Suggestions

On a ride trip two years ago we had a weird phenomenon where the snow got super sticky for about 20 minutes as we were attempting to navigate across an open sidehill. The snow stuck so bad we had to lay the sleds over and attempt to scrape the snow off otherwise with 2 guys pulling it was all we could do to get a sled moving. Once we got tired of this and decided to head back, the temperature changed or something and the skis starting slipping again.

Anyone use downhill ski wax or something similar when the snow gets sticky?

We were attempting to run across the opening behind the sled in this picture (blown in road) and continue on.IMG_3078.JPG

Did you hit something wet or slushy? Have had it happen occasionally but we often ride in wet snow ...usually solved by additional thumb movement.

No, it was actually super cold that day. Roughly 0°F when we left the truck. This was an exposed face obviously so the snow was a little thicker than the fluff in the trees. It stuck like ice on steel skis.
