Snow Removal Boards which ones are the best and why?

I'm tired of snow building up in the foot wells.... I understand the powder coated ones tend to be the best, there are some plastic ones out there as well.... So many brands these day's I'd just like to know who likes which ones and why...

I've been thinking of simply cutting out the cross member in the stock boards in the foot well and then riveting in a piece to reduce clearance.... I'm just a little hesitant that it might be to big..... What have you done and why..... I'm leaning towards the fastlane ones because they have the footwell part of the running boards but out but I'm not a huge fan of the plastic.....

Who makes the Best Boards for the money?

A buddy of mine bought and installed these on his RMK and I just installed a set on my '08-M1000. They are aluminum with a plastic overlay on top. They work awesome in deep powder, and snow does not stick to them at all. The fit and finish is second to none and the traction is awesome. $174 delivered USPS Priority Mail.

I installed better boards and I love them. No more kicking at all. Black coated and looks sharp as well.

Me too. Couldn't be happier with them. Strong, $150, black and proud. Not the funnest thing to install them but well worth it!

I had Better boards on my Polaris edge and was very happy with them but I really liked what I saw with those throttleup industries boards, I asked Santa for a set of those for x-mas. I'll report back Dec 26th ho ho ho...

BETTERBOARDS POWDERCOAT BLACK! AND MAKE SURE TO CUT ALL MATERIAL OUT OF STOCK. DONT CUT EACH SQUARE OUT CAUSE IT MAKES IT WEAKER.
I havent kicked my snowmobile in the 134 miles thus season. not once and its been deep snow

I also put Throttle Up boards on mine. Awesome fit and finish, aluminum for strength, plastic for non-stick. Don't sit up so high like fastlane's. I have 150 miles on them. Strong, good grip, and snow doesn't stick to the plastic!

How could it make it weaker cutting out each square on the Better Boards??? That was one reason I really liked the Throttle-Up boards because you don't cut the entire running board out and when you put the traction bolts in, it "locks" the new boards with the stock running boards giving it really good strength. I don't see how cutting out the entire 5"x32" section can make it stronger rather than cutting out each square?

Yep. Not quite sure how more material and cross members would equal less strength. Not saying that these or any of the other aftermarket running boards are bad. Just wondering how you came to the conclusion that more material makes less strength. I think someone is getting into the rum n eggnog a little early this season:)

love the look of the throttle up, but theres no vertical supports, how strong would they be for a guy like me weighing 220

I am installing WRP TUFF boards right now. They are black powder coated and 1/8" thick. The have a good 90 degree verticle and really stiffen the tunnel up. They were $170 shipped and I think they look super cool with the silouette of the mountains cut into the design.

Love my Fastlane No-Snos. Will be installing another set this week on my other M8. Looks like Bret Rasmussen uses them as well ;)

The stock vertical corner-bracket on your stock sled right now is built right into there boards. You actually remove your stock corner-brace and install these to physically replace it. If your stock boards hold you now, then there would be absolutely no issues. It would be tough on this board to do tall verticals because of all the ribbed protrusions Arctic Cat stamped into the tunnel.

Bret always has a great looking sled!! You notice he also had to design a new outer rail traction bar because the Fastlanes are so tall! He was talking about it the other day at a seminar in Boise.

The question is how much snow are you willing to tollerate?

If the answer is ZERO, then there is only ONE option.

Skinz Protective Gear AIR FRAME BOARDS.

While I don't ride a Cat, I did install them on my Yamaha and they are BEYOND SPECTACULAR!

After riding for HOURS in deep powder...
Notice there is ZERO ICE and just a little fluff that has no impact on your boot traction.
